Disclosed are electrochemical devices, such as lithium ion battery electrodes, lithium ion conducting solid-state electrolytes, and solid-state lithium ion batteries including these electrodes and solid-state electrolytes. Also disclosed are composite electrodes for solid state electrochemical devices. The composite electrodes include one or more separate phases within the electrode that provide electronic and ionic conduction pathways in the electrode active material phase. A method for forming a composite electrode for an electrochemical device is also disclosed. One example method comprises (a) forming a mixture comprising (i) a lithium host material, and (ii) a solid-state conductive material comprising a ceramic material having a crystal structure and a dopant in the crystal structure; and (b) sintering the mixture, wherein the dopant is selected such that the solid-state conductive material retains the crystal structure during sintering with the lithium host material.

The dielectric composition contains, as a main component, a tungsten bronze type composite oxide represented by a chemical formula (Sr.sub.1.00-(s+t)Ba.sub.sCa.sub.t).sub.6.00-xR.sub.x(Ti.sub.1.00-aZr.sub.a).sub.x+2.00(Nb.sub.1.00-bTa.sub.b).sub.8.00-xO.sub.30.00, in which the R is at least one element selected from Y, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu, and s, t, x, a, and b satisfy 0.50s1.00, 0t0.30, 0.50s+t1.00, 1.50<x3.00, 0.20a1.00, and 0b1.00. At least one selected from Mn, Mg, Co, V, W, Mo, Si, Li, B, and Al is contained as a sub component in 0.10 mol or more and 20.00 mol or less with respect to 100 mol of the main component.

A method for producing a piezoelectric single crystal ingot shows small variation in the concentration of PbTiO.sub.3 in the growth direction of single crystal. A complete solid solution-type piezoelectric single crystal ingot is produced by using the Bridgman method, including: filling a starting material, wherein a relaxor having a compositional formula Pb(B.sub.1,B.sub.2)O.sub.3 is blended with lead titanate having a composition PbTiO.sub.3 to give a preset composition, into a crucible for growth; heating to the melting temperature to give a melted liquid layer; then moving the crucible for growth toward the low temperature side; and thus starting one-direction solidification from the lower part of the crucible to thereby produce a single crystal. During solidification, the feedstock containing the relaxor and lead titanate having a maximum grain size 3 mm is continuously supplied into the crucible.
