Impregnated fibers comprising preceramic resin formulations, and related composite materials and methods
A preceramic resin formulation comprising a polycarbosilane preceramic polymer, an organically modified silicon dioxide preceramic polymer, and, optionally, at least one filler. The preceramic resin formulation is formulated to exhibit a viscosity of from about 1,000 cP at about 25° C. to about 5,000 cP at a temperature of about 25° C. The at least one filler comprises first particles having an average mean diameter of less than about 1.0 μm and second particles having an average mean diameter of from about 1.5 μm to about 5 μm. Impregnated fibers comprising the preceramic resin formulation are also disclosed, as is a composite material comprising a reaction product of the polycarbosilane preceramic polymer, organically modified silicon dioxide preceramic polymer, and the at least one filler. Methods of forming a ceramic matrix composite are also disclosed.
CERAMIC ARTICLE WITH ENHANCED STRUCTURAL AND THERMAL STABILITY AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A ceramic spinner and a method of making the same is provided. The ceramic spinner includes: a top portion with a first opening, the first opening having a first diameter; a base portion with a second opening, the second opening having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter; a cylindrical portion extending between the top portion and the base portion, the cylindrical portion including a peripheral outer wall, a peripheral inner wall, and a plurality of through holes extending between the peripheral outer wall and the peripheral inner wall. The cylindrical portion may include a material having a module of rupture (MOR) exceeding 100 MPa, a Mohs hardness exceeding 8, or a Young's Modulus exceeding 250 GPa, or any combinations thereof.
CERAMIC ARTICLE WITH ENHANCED STRUCTURAL AND THERMAL STABILITY AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A ceramic spinner and a method of making the same is provided. The ceramic spinner includes: a top portion with a first opening, the first opening having a first diameter; a base portion with a second opening, the second opening having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter; a cylindrical portion extending between the top portion and the base portion, the cylindrical portion including a peripheral outer wall, a peripheral inner wall, and a plurality of through holes extending between the peripheral outer wall and the peripheral inner wall. Heating cooker using ceramic heating element and manufacturing method therefor
The present invention relates to a heating cooker using a ceramic heating element and a manufacturing method thereof, the method comprising: a cooker body preparation step; a heating element material preparation step of preparing any one or more selected from among mill scale, steelmaking slag and magnetite (Fe.sub.3O.sub.4); an inorganic binder preparation step of preparing, as an inorganic binder, a colloidal silica sol having a colloidal silica content of 8 to 30 wt %; a mixing step of mixing 20 to 40 parts by weight of the colloidal silica sol as the inorganic binder with 100 parts by weight of the heating element material, thereby making a heating material paste; an application step of applying the heating element paste to the bottom of the cooker body; and a drying and curing step of drying and curing the heating element paste, thereby forming a solid heating element.

SURFACE TREATMENTS FOR CERAMIC COATED/IMPREGNATED MATERIALS
The present invention relates to surface-treated prepreg composites and corresponding methods of surface treating an inorganic fabric to form a surface-treated fabric reinforced prepreg composite. The method comprises infiltrating an inorganic fabric with a first slurry mixture to form an infiltrated fabric; optionally drying the infiltrated fabric; infiltrating an inorganic paper with a second slurry mixture to form an infiltrated paper; optionally drying the infiltrated paper; and applying the infiltrated paper to at least one surface of the infiltrated fabric to form a surface-treated prepreg composite.
SURFACE TREATMENTS FOR CERAMIC COATED/IMPREGNATED MATERIALS
The present invention relates to surface-treated prepreg composites and corresponding methods of surface treating an inorganic fabric to form a surface-treated fabric reinforced prepreg composite. A method for forming a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component with an internal cooling channel includes forming a first fiber member, forming a first depression in a surface of the first fiber member, covering the first depression with a second fiber member to form a near-net shape fiber preform of a component with an internal channel defined in part by the first depression, and densifying the fiber preform.
Composite material comprising a fibrous reinforcement and a poly(phospho-sialate) geopolymer matrix and associated manufacturing method
A composite material containing a matrix and a fibrous reinforcement, in particular a textile embedded in the matrix. The matrix includes a geopolymer of the poly(phospho-sialate) type having the following formula I: (1) (—P—O—Si—O—Al—O—).sub.n in which n is greater than 2. The matrix further includes zirconium covalently bonded to the matrix, especially in the —ZrO form and/or in the —O—Zr—O form. The matrix has a melting temperature greater than 700° C., especially equal to or greater than 1200° C.
Graphite-containing refractory and method of producing graphite-containing refractory
A graphite-containing refractory has higher bending strength and fracture energy than known refractories. The graphite-containing refractory has a graphite content of 1% to 80% by mass. 1000 to 300000 carbon fibers with a fiber diameter of 1 to 45 μm/fiber are bundled. The carbon fiber bundle has a length of 100 mm or more and is placed within the graphite-containing refractory to form the same.
