Minimally invasive nasal implants and systems and methods

Nasal implants and nasal implant delivery tools are described herein. The nasal implants and tools can be used to deliver the implant in a minimally invasive way. The delivery tools can be adapted to separate the upper lateral cartilage from the septum and to place an implant between the septum and the upper lateral cartilage. The implant can be configured to be placed between the upper lateral cartilage and the septum. The implant system can include a first longitudinal body adapted to engage with upper lateral cartilage and the septum on a first side of the septum and a second longitudinal body adapted to engage with upper lateral cartilage and the septum on a second side of the septum.

ENDOVASCULAR DEVICES AND METHODS

Devices and methods for the treatment of chronic total occlusions are provided. One disclosed embodiment comprises a method of facilitating treatment via a vascular wall defining a vascular lumen containing an occlusion therein. The method includes providing an intravascular device having a distal portion with a side port, inserting the device into the vascular lumen, positioning the distal portion in the vascular wall, directing the distal portion within the vascular wall such that the distal portion moves at least partially laterally, and directing the side port towards the vascular lumen.

Catheter removal instruments are also provided that can include: at least a pair of instrument jaws aligned along the same axis and opposing one another when engaged, each of the jaws defining recesses having openings wherein the openings of each jaw oppose one another; and wherein each of the jaws defines a semi-round channel having a smooth outer surface. Methods for removing a catheter are provided that can include working a pair of opposing semi-round channeled jaws over a brace to free the brace of dermis engaged with the brace; and removing the catheter. Methods for removing a catheter are also provided that can include engaging a catheter tube below the dermis with a plurality of tips extending from individual opposing jaws to remove the catheter.

Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery

Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery in a minimally invasive manner are provided. The methods include application of reduced air pressure in a recessed area of a handpiece placed over a section of skin and drawing the section of skin and subcutaneous tissue into the recessed area. In a subsequent step a tool is inserted through a tool conduit in the handpiece and through the skin into the subcutaneous tissue, enabling the performance of the desired surgery. Common surgical procedures include dissection and ablation. The devices and methods can be directed at the treatment of skin conditions like atrophic scars, wrinkles, or other cosmetic issues, at treatments like or promoting wound healing or preventing hyperhidrosis, or can be used for creating space for various implants.

An insertion tool for creating a subcutaneous pocket and implanting a device in the pocket. The tool may include a cannula extending from a handle, a dissector tip disposed at a distal end of the cannula, and a rod. The cannula and dissector tip may create the pocket. The cannula may include a passage and an opening into the passage, and the cannula may be disposed in the passage and move along the passage between a retracted position and an extended position. The rod and the cannula may be configured such that, when the rod is at the retracted position, the cannula holds the device in the passage, and as the cannula moves from the extended position to the retracted position, the rod forces the device through the opening at the distal end of the cannula, at least partially out of the cannula, and at least partially into the pocket.

The present invention is a group of surgical instruments with improved function and design for dental and craniofacial surgery, especially subperiosteal tunneling and related procedures. The instruments include surgical elevators for vestibular incision or incisions in the gingival sulcus. The instruments have varying angles and shapes to create a mucosal tunnel in any oral or maxillofacial region. The instrument suite also optionally includes specially designed forceps for introduction of graft material inside the subperiosteal tunnel and to assist with suturing of the graft to surrounding tissue.

Single-site implantation methods for medical devices having multiple leads

Methods and devices include making an incision at a single site of a patient. The single site located at an anterior of a chest or abdomen. The method also includes inserting a tunneling tool through the incision at the single site and preparing a first tunnel to a subcutaneous posterior location. A path of the first tunnel at least one of i) extends over a plurality of Intercostal gaps of the chest or ii) extends along and within one of the intercostal gaps. The method also includes positioning a first lead having an electrode within the first tunnel and preparing a second tunnel to a subcutaneous parasternal location along the chest. The method also includes positioning a second lead having an electrode within the second tunnel and positioning a pulse generator within a subcutaneous pocket and operatively coupling the first and second leads to the pulse generator.

Apparatus and method for implanting an arteriovenous graft

An apparatus is provided for subcutaneous implantation in a patient using a tunneling instrument. The implantation apparatus comprises a vascular graft and a connector adapted to couple a distal end of the tunneling instrument and a proximal end of the graft. The connector comprises a tip, a first end of the tip configured to be received within the proximal end of the graft, a clip for securing the graft to the tip, and a coupler for a rotatable connection of the tip to the tunneling instrument such that the tip is rotatable about its longitudinal axis relative to the coupler to facilitate attachment of the graft to the tunneling instrument. The implantation apparatus may further comprise a removable sheath configured to substantially cover the length of the graft.
