Surgical cutting device
A surgical cutting tool includes a catheter, a first diametrically expandable member such as an inflatable balloon at a first location on the catheter, a second diametrically expandable member such as an inflatable balloon at a second location on the catheter that is distally spaced from the first expandable member, a cutting tool such as a cauterization tip extending between the first and second expandable members, and expanding structure such as a lumen for enabling the first and second expandable members to be actuated between a reduced diameter state and an expanded diameter state, and thereby move and position the cutting tool radially with respect to the catheter.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR THE REMOVAL OF LENTICULAR TISSUE
An exemplary surgical device includes a shaft with a lumen defined therethrough and an element movable from a stored position to a deployed position in which a larger portion of the element extends out of the distal end of the lumen; wherein motion from the stored position to the deployed position causes a first leg of the element to advance distally relative to the distal end of the shaft, and causes a second leg of the element to move proximally relative to the distal end of the shaft.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PERFORMING SUBCUTANEOUS SURGERY
Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery in a minimally invasive manner are provided. The methods include application of reduced air pressure in a recessed area of a handpiece placed over a section of skin and drawing the section of skin and subcutaneous tissue into the recessed area. In a subsequent step a tool is inserted through a tool conduit in the handpiece and through the skin into the subcutaneous tissue, enabling the performance of the desired surgery. Common surgical procedures include dissection and ablation. The devices and methods can be directed at the treatment of skin conditions like atrophic scars, wrinkles, or other cosmetic issues, at treatments like or promoting wound healing or preventing hyperhidrosis, or can be used for creating space for various implants.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR OCULAR SURGERY
Devices, systems, and methods for performing an ophthalmic procedure in an eye are disclosed. The devices include a hand-held portion and a distal, elongate member coupled to the hand-held portion having a lumen operatively coupled to a vacuum source. A drive mechanism operatively coupled to the elongate member is configured to oscillate the elongate member. When in use, the device is configured to aspirate ocular material from the eye through the lumen. The drive mechanism retracts the elongate member with a retraction speed profile and advances the elongate member with an extension speed profile. The retraction speed profile is different from the extension speed profile.
System for excising anal fistula traces
Current invention relates to a combined system developed for the purpose of use in the treatment of anorectal fistulas. Fistulectomy Set is a system consisting of fistulectomy units which functions fully controlled and transmitting the pivoted movement which comes from the movement providing and transmitting part to the cutting edge by moving it on a central guide with the help of a motion carrier flexible shaft consisting of hexahedron spheroid parts. It consists of a cannulation apparatus which provides a simultaneous rotation, vibration and reciprocating movement and which detects the fistula trace fully and accurately. With this cutting edge, a channel surrounded by living tissue is obtained by cutting around the fistula trace cylindrically with suitable thickness, and thus cutting the secretory mucosa, dead tissues and fibrotic structures. With the developed system, it is believed that important progress will be made in the treatment of anorectal fistula; an important social and medical problem. It will prevent the loss of labor force, shorten hospital stays, reduce costs and minimize complications of treatment. Most importantly, it will prevent anal incontinence and hence a very important problem will be solved.
Instruments, devices, and related methods for soft tissue dissection
A differential dissecting instrument for differentially dissecting complex tissue comprising is disclosed. The differential dissecting instrument comprises a rotary drive train having a central, longitudinal axis, a distal end, and a proximal end. The differential dissecting instrument also comprises at least one differential dissecting bluntwheel, wherein the at least one differential dissecting bluntwheel is rotatably associated with the distal end of the rotary drive train, has at least one axis of rotation substantially transverse to the central, longitudinal axis of the rotary drive train, and is rotated by the rotary drive train. The bluntwheel may comprise projections that are configured to differentially dissect a complex tissue when the differential dissecting instrument is in operation.
TRANSCATHETER DEVICES AND METHODS FOR REPAIRING A LEAFLET OF A HEART VALVE OF A SUBJECT
A system, for use with a leaflet of a valve of a subject's heart, comprises a catheter, a cutting device, a helical needle, and a suture. The catheter is transluminally advanceable toward the heart. The cutting device is advanceable distally out of the catheter, and is adapted to cut through tissue of the leaflet to form cut tissue and cut edges at the cardiac valve. The helical needle defines a helical lumen, the helical needle configured to be advanced distally out of the catheter and to rotationally extend through, and secure together, two tissue segments of the leaflet. The suture extends through the helical lumen of the helical needle. The helical needle and the suture are configured to extend along the two tissue segments of the leaflet to suture the two tissue segments to each other. Other embodiments are also described.
Cellulite treatment apparatus
Systems and methods for treating cellulite including an apparatus that applies or a method involving separating septa to eliminate or reduce the appearance of cellulite. In one approach, an interventional tool is placed between tissue layers to engage and treat septa connecting tissue layers between which fat deposits are contained.
Method and apparatus for minimally invasive posterolateral spinal fusion
Certain embodiments of the invention relate to a surgical procedure resulting in the fusion of transverse processes. The disclosure herein presents novel approaches for accessing transverse processes of the spine, novel methods for the delivery of fusion material for the fusion of said transverse processes, and novel tools to facilitate the procedure. Certain embodiments of the invention include a graft delivery assembly, which has a delivery shaft, delivery sheath, and at least one curved rod. Bony material is position with a graft delivery assembly, in which retraction of the delivery shaft or sheath places the bone fusion material to the fusion site. The graft delivery assembly further includes features to decorticate and prepare the bone surface for fusion.
UTERINE MANIPULATOR
A uterine manipulator can include a shaft including a first end, a second end, and a channel along an axis of the shaft, a handle coupled to the first end of the shaft, and a triangular balloon coupled to the second end of the shaft. The triangular balloon can be configured to inflate upon insertion into a vagina via a fluid injected into the channel of the shaft.
