Devices, systems, and methods for performing an ophthalmic procedure in an eye are disclosed. The devices include a hand-held portion and a distal, elongate member coupled to the hand-held portion having a lumen operatively coupled to a vacuum source. A drive mechanism operatively coupled to the elongate member is configured to oscillate the elongate member. When in use, the device is configured to aspirate ocular material from the eye through the lumen. The drive mechanism retracts the elongate member with a retraction speed profile and advances the elongate member with an extension speed profile. The retraction speed profile is different from the extension speed profile.

SACROILIAC FUSION SYSTEM

Methods and apparatuses for performing an orthopedic procedure in the sacroiliac region are disclosed. In one form, an aperture is formed that at least partially extends through at least one of an ilium and a sacrum. An undercutting system is inserted into the aperture. The undercutting system includes an insertion apparatus, a probe assembly and a cutting assembly. The probe assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The probe assembly is manipulated within a joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the probe assembly is in the extended position. The cutting assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The cutting assembly is manipulated within the joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the cutting assembly is in the extended position to form a fusion region.

In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, a tissue extraction device may include a bag having an interior and a plurality of cutters elements extending along an interior surface of the bag. The cutters can be offset to facilitate collapsing of the bag prior to introducing the bag into a patient.

Endoscopic cutting device having a cutting wire directed through openings in a tube to form two diathermy blades, and a probe for a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy

An endoscopic cutting device for cutting free a probe, provided with a retaining plate, which, within the scope of a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, is arranged in a stomach wall and is overgrown by the gastric mucosa, wherein, for the adjustment of the cutting element provided at a distal end of a tube via a pulling cord, an actuation force of an actuation element can be transmitted to same. In addition, the cutting device includes a cutting wire which is electrically heatable and connected to the pulling cord, and which runs outside the tube via a distal section to form a first diathermy blade. In addition, the distal end of the tube is slanted at an angle to the transverse plane thereof to form a tip, wherein the tip is facing the first diathermy blade. Furthermore, the cutting wire is directed externally around the tip to form a second diathermy blade.

A tissue removal system for extracting a tissue specimen from a patient is disclosed. The system has a retrieval bag, a first electrode, and a return electrode. The retrieval bag has a flexible container with an opening. The first electrode is coupled to an interior of the flexible container, and has a conductive wire with an exposure area, a first load-bearing area, a coating having a first active electrode surface area, and an impedance that is greater than an impedance of the conductive wire. The first active electrode surface area is less than the exposure area. The coating is configured to degrade during application of electrosurgical power and wherein the degradation expands the first active electrode surface area during the application of the electrosurgical power.

Tissue extraction devices and related methods

In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, a tissue extraction device may include a bag having an interior and a plurality of cutting elements extending through the interior of the bag. The cutting elements can have a common end.

Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery

Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery in a minimally invasive manner are provided. The methods include application of reduced air pressure in a recessed area of a handpiece placed over a section of skin and drawing the section of skin and subcutaneous tissue into the recessed area. In a subsequent step a tool is inserted through a tool conduit in the handpiece and through the skin into the subcutaneous tissue, enabling the performance of the desired surgery. Common surgical procedures include dissection and ablation. The devices and methods can be directed at the treatment of skin conditions like atrophic scars, wrinkles, or other cosmetic issues, at treatments like or promoting wound healing or preventing hyperhidrosis, or can be used for creating space for various implants.

An end effector assembly includes an outer shaft defining a longitudinal axis and a tapered distal end portion. A semi-spherical cutting implement is rotatably disposed in the outer shaft proximate the tapered distal end portion of the outer shaft. A portion of the rotating cutting implement protrudes from the tapered distal end portion of the outer shaft. The semi-spherical cutting implement includes a pinion gear. The pinion gear rotates the semi-spherical cutting implement about an axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. An inner shaft is positioned within the outer shaft. The inner shaft defines a crown gear at a distal end portion thereof. The crown gear rotatably engage the pinion gear of the semi-spherical cutting implement. Rotation of the inner shaft about the longitudinal axis correspondingly rotates the pinon gear, which, in turn, rotates the semi-spherical cutting implement about the axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
