An extraction device can include a delivery shaft having a lumen and a distal end, a first wire forming a first arc and being positionable distal to the distal end of the delivery shaft while ends of the first arc are at a distalmost end of the delivery shaft, and a second wire forming a second arc and being positionable distal to the distal end of the delivery shaft while ends of the second arc are at the distalmost end of the delivery shaft. A distalmost extent of the first wire is distal to a distalmost extent of the second wire. The first wire and the second wire are separately retractable relative to the delivery shaft.

A uterine manipulator can include a shaft including a first end, a second end, and a channel along an axis of the shaft, a handle coupled to the first end of the shaft, and a triangular balloon coupled to the second end of the shaft. The triangular balloon can be configured to inflate upon insertion into a vagina via a fluid injected into the channel of the shaft.
Minimal Impact Access System To Disc Space
Methods and apparatus for accessing and repairing a vertebral disc include a pad with a central cut-out mounted to the skin of a patient or, alternatively, a pedicle-mounted support. An incision is made and then a corridor is created using an elongated guide and a series of dilating tubes. An access to the disc space is created through the superior articular process and the facet joint using the corridor defined by the dilating tubes. Nucleus material is removed from the disc space and the vertebral endplates are prepared. The disc space may be sized to select a suitable implant, which is advanced through the corridor and into the disc space following discectomy and endplate preparation. Bone graft material may be inserted into the disc space following installation of the implant and then posterior rigid fixation may be achieved using percutaneous pedicle screws, followed by closure of the site.

In one example embodiment, an apparatus for treating a tissue site may include a contact layer formed from a compressible material. The contact layer may include a plurality of apertures extending at least partially through the contact layer. The contact layer may be configurable such that at least a portion of the apertures include a first plurality of orifices having a diameter in a first diameter range and such that at least a portion of the apertures include a second plurality of orifices having a diameter in a second diameter range. The first diameter range may be from about 2 mm to about 6 mm. The second diameter range may be from about 8 mm to about 15 mm. The apparatus may include a cover configured to form a sealed space including the contact layer and the tissue site.

Apparatus and methods for cataract extraction are disclosed. An extraction device may include a delivery shaft having a lumen and a distal end. The lumen may include a first channel and a second channel diverging at the distal end. A wire may form a loop and extend from the first channel and the second channel. The wire may be movable within the lumen.

A tissue removal system for extracting a tissue specimen from a patient and a related method are disclosed. The system has a flexible container with an opening associated with a proximal end, and a distal end. The system also has a plurality of wires removably coupled to an interior of the flexible container in a pre-collection configuration wherein the plurality of wires form a receiving space for receiving the tissue specimen and wherein the plurality of wires are positioned in a pattern. The pattern is selected to divide the tissue specimen into at least four pieces in response to at least one pulling force on the plurality of wires.

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of tissue removal and more particularly to methods and devices for use in medical applications involving selective tissue removal. One exemplary method includes the steps of providing a tissue cutting instrument capable of distinguishing between target tissue to be removed and non-target tissue, urging the instrument against the target tissue and the non-target tissue, and allowing the instrument to cut the target tissue while automatically avoiding cutting of non-target tissue. Various tools for carrying out this method are also described.
