NANO-CRYSTALLINE REFRACTORY METAL CARBIDES, BORIDES OR NITRIDES WITH HOMOGENEOUSLY DISPERSED INCLUSIONS
Disclosed are compositions containing nanoparticles of a metal nitride, boride, silicide, or carbide, a filler material, and a carbonaceous matrix. The precursor to this material contains nanoparticles or particles of boron, silicon, iron, a refractory metal, or a refractory metal hydride, an organic compound having carbon and hydrogen, and a filler material. Multilayered materials are also disclosed.
METAL NITRIDES AND/OR METAL CARBIDES WITH NANOCRYSTALLINE GRAIN STRUCTURE
Disclosed is a composition having nanoparticles or particles of a refractory metal, a refractory metal hydride, a refractory metal carbide, a refractory metal nitride, or a refractory metal boride, an organic compound consisting of carbon and hydrogen, and a nitrogenous compound consisting of carbon, nitrogen, and hydrogen. The composition, optionally containing the nitrogenous compound, is milled, cured to form a thermoset, compacted into a geometric shape, and heated in a nitrogen atmosphere at a temperature that forms a nanoparticle composition comprising nanoparticles of metal nitride and optionally metal carbide. The nanoparticles have a uniform distribution of the nitride or carbide.
Porous alpha-SiC-containing shaped body having a contiguous open pore structure
The present invention relates to a porous alpha-SiC-containing shaped body with a gas-permeable, open-pored pore structure comprising platelet-shaped crystallites which are connected to form an interconnected, continuous skeletal structure, wherein the skeletal structure consists of more than 80 wt.-% alpha-SiC, relative to the total weight of SiC, a process for producing same and its use as a filter component.
BATCH FOR PRODUCTION OF A REFRACTORY PRODUCT, A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A REFRACTORY PRODUCT, A REFRACTORY PRODUCT AS WELL AS THE USE OF A REFRACTORY PRODUCT
The invention concerns a batch for the production of a refractory product, a process for the production of a refractory product, a refractory product as well as the use of a refractory product.
Polycrystalline diamond cutters having non-catalytic material addition and methods of making the same
Polycrystalline diamond cutters for rotary drill bits and methods of making the same are disclosed. A polycrystalline diamond compact includes a polycrystalline diamond body having a working surface, an interface surface, and a perimeter surface. The polycrystalline diamond compact also includes a substrate bonded to the polycrystalline diamond body along the interface surface. A non-diamond volume fraction of the polycrystalline diamond body is greater at the interface surface than at the working surface.
Method for manufacturing a refractory part made of composite material
A method of fabricating a part out of composite material, includes forming a fiber texture from refractory fibers; placing the texture in a mold having an impregnation chamber including in its bottom portion a part made of porous material, the impregnation chamber being closed in its top portion by a deformable impermeable diaphragm separating the impregnation chamber from a compacting chamber; injecting a slip containing a powder of refractory particles into the impregnation chamber; injecting a compression fluid into the compacting chamber, to force the slip to pass through the texture; draining the liquid of the slip via the porous material part, while retaining the powder of refractory particles inside the texture so as to obtain a fiber preform filled with refractory particles; drying the fiber preform; unmolding the preform; and sintering the refractory particles present in the preform in order to form a refractory matrix in the preform.
THERMOELECTRIC COMPOSITE MATERIAL COMPRISING MXENE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A thermoelectric composite material includes MXene inserted at a boundary of a crystal grain consisting of a thermoelectric material. Accordingly, the thermoelectric composite material may have a reduced thermal conductivity and an increased electrical conductivity. Furthermore, a mechanical property of the thermoelectric composite material may be improved. Thus, the thermoelectric composite material may improve a thermoelectric ability of a thermoelectric module.
COMPOSITE BRAKE DISKS WITH AN INTEGRATED HEAT SINK, METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING ENCAPSULATED HEAT SINK MATERIAL
Brake disks with integrated heat sink are provided. Brake disk includes a fiber-reinforced composite material and an encapsulated heat sink material impregnated into the fiber-reinforced composite material. The encapsulated heat sink material comprises a heat sink material encapsulated within a silicon-containing encapsulation layer. Methods for manufacturing the brake disk with integrated heat sink and methods for producing the encapsulated heat sink material are also provided.
FUNCTIONAL COMPOSITE PARTICLES
A complex proppant particle is made of a coal dust and binder composite that is pyrolyzed. Constituent portions of the composite react together causing the particles to increase in density and reduce in size during pyrolyzation, yielding a particle suitable for use as a proppant.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A HOLE JEWEL
A method for manufacturing a hole jewel, including forming a precursor from a mixture of at least one powder material with a binder; pressing the precursor, with upper lower dies, to form a green body of the future hole jewel including a blind cavity having a height between a height of the green body and a height of the future hole jewel, the cavity being provided with upper and lower portions respectively including blanks of a through hole and of a functional element of the future hole jewel; sintering the green body to form a body of the future hole jewel; machining the body, including a first sub-step of shaping a top of the body, during which a height of the upper portion is configured in readiness for an opening in the through hole blank for connecting the functional element to the upper surface, and a second sub-step of shaping a base of the body to form a lower surface of the hole jewel for connecting the functional element to to the lower surface.
