Self-healing matrix for a ceramic composite
A method for forming a self-healing ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component includes depositing a first self-healing particulate material in a first region of a CMC preform of the CMC component and depositing a second self-healing particulate material having a different chemical composition than the first self-healing particulate material in a second region of the CMC preform distinct from the first region.
A ceramic nuclear fuel pellet, a fuel rod, and a fuel assembly
A fuel assembly for a nuclear reactor, a fuel rod of the fuel assembly, and a ceramic nuclear fuel pellet of the fuel rod are disclosed. The fuel pellet includes a first fissile material of UB.sub.2, The boron of the UB.sub.2 is enriched to have a concentration of the isotope .sup.11B that is higher than for natural B.
Method for producing a composite part containing a ceramic matrix
A process for manufacturing a composite material part including a particulate reinforcement densified by a ceramic matrix, the process including: formation of a blank of the part to be manufactured by shaping a mixture including a binder, first ceramic or carbon particles intended to form the particulate reinforcement of the part and second ceramic or carbon particles distinct from the first particles, removal or pyrolysis of the binder present in the blank to obtain a porous preform of the part to be manufactured, and infiltration of the porosity of the preform by a molten composition including a metal in order to obtain the part.
Probe card board, probe card, and inspection apparatus
A probe card board in the present disclosure includes a plurality of through holes designed to receive a probe brought into contact with a measurement object. The probe card board is composed of silicon nitride based ceramics. The probe card board includes a first surface opposed to the measurement object and a second surface located opposite to the first surface. The probe card board contains a plurality of crystal phases of metal silicide. Metal constituting the metal silicide is at least one kind selected from among molybdenum, chrome, iron, nickel, manganese, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, cobalt and tungsten.
THERMALLY-ACTUATED GAS VALVE WITH CERAMIC HEATER
A thermally-actuatable gas valve assembly comprising a ceramic heater is shown and described. The gas valve assembly comprises a housing with a gas inlet and a gas outlet. A bimetal thermal actuator has a valve plug that removably seals the gas outlet from the interior of the housing. The ceramic heater is energizable to cause the thermal actuator to deflect which unseats the valve plug from the gas outlet, thereby placing the gas outlet in fluid communication with the gas inlet and the interior of the housing. A gas heating system is also shown and described in which the gas valve assembly selectively supplies cooking gas to a silicon nitride ceramic igniter. The igniter and the heater are in series such that when a source of alternating current is applied across the igniter and the heater, the igniter reaches the autoignition temperature of the combustion gas before the valve assembly opens
SENSOR FOR DETERMINING GAS PARAMETERS
A high-temperature sensor, having at least one completely ceramic heater and at least one first sensor structure arranged on a first side of the completely ceramic heater, at least in areas. And a method for producing a sensor.
A Heating Element Comprising Chromium Alloyed Molybdenum Disilicide And The Use Thereof
The present disclosure relates to a heating element, wherein at least one part of the heating element is manufactured from a molybdenum disilicide composition and wherein in the molybdenum disilicide composition, molybdenum is substituted by chromium according to (Mo.sub.1-xCr.sub.x)Si.sub.2 and x is in the range of 0.16x0.19.
ENVIRONMENTAL BARRIER COATING AND METHOD OF FORMING THE SAME
A method of applying a coating to a substrate includes forming a slurry by mixing elemental precursors of gettering particles, diffusive particles, matrix material, and a carrier fluid; applying the slurry to a substrate; and sintering the slurry to form a composite material. The sintering causes the elemental precursors to react with one another to form gettering particles. An article is also disclosed.
CBN SINTERED COMPACT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cBN sintered compact has cubic boron nitride particles and a ceramic binder phase, and in the sintered compact, WSi.sub.2 having an average particle diameter of 10 nm to 200 nm is dispersed such that a content thereof is 1 vol % to 20 vol %. A cutting tool has the cBN sintered compact as a tool body.
MULTI-ZONE SILICON NITRIDE WAFER HEATER ASSEMBLY HAVING CORROSION PROTECTIVE LAYER, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A wafer heater assembly comprises a heater substrate and a non-porous outermost layer. The heater substrate comprises silicon nitride (Si.sub.3N.sub.4) and includes at least one heating element embedded therein. The non-porous outermost layer is associated with at least a first surface of the heater substrate. The non-porous outermost layer comprises a rare-earth (RE) disilicate (RE.sub.2Si.sub.2O.sub.7); where RE is one of Yb and Y. The non-porous outermost layer includes an exposed surface configured to contact a wafer for heating, the exposed surface opposite the first surface of the heater substrate. Methods of making wafer heater assemblies are also disclosed as well as methods of using the wafer heater assembly.
