Provided are alumina particles containing molybdenum and with their shape controlled. The alumina particles contain phosphorus and molybdenum. The alumina particles are preferably plate-like or card house-like. The phosphorus is preferably unevenly distributed in surface layers of the alumina particles. Also provided are a resin composition containing the alumina particles and a resin, a molded body made by molding the resin composition, and a method for producing the alumina particle including a step of firing the aluminum compound in the presence of a molybdenum compound and a phosphorous compound.

To reduce size and mass of a nuclear reactor system, an integrated in-vessel shield separates the role of a neutron reflector and a neutron shield. Nuclear reactor system includes a pressure vessel including an interior wall and a nuclear reactor core located within the interior wall of the pressure vessel. Nuclear reactor core includes a plurality of fuel elements and at least one moderator element. Nuclear reactor system includes a reflector located inside the pressure vessel that includes a plurality of reflector blocks laterally surrounding the plurality of fuel elements and the at least one moderator element. Nuclear reactor system includes the in-vessel shield located on the interior wall of the pressure vessel to surround the reflector blocks. In-vessel shield is formed of two or more neutron absorbing materials. The two more neutron absorbing materials include a near black neutron absorbing material and a gray neutron absorbing material.
ALUMINUM-CONTAINING NITRIDE CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE, METHOD OF MAKING, AND METHOD OF USE
Embodiments of disclosure may provide a method for forming an aluminum-containing nitride ceramic matrix composite, comprising heating a green body, an aluminum-containing composition, ammonia and a mineralizer composition in a sealable container to a temperature between about 400 degrees Celsius and about 800 degrees Celsius and a pressure between about 10 MPa and about 1000 MPa, to form an aluminum-containing nitride ceramic matrix composite characterized by a phosphor-to-aluminum nitride (AlN) ratio, by volume, between about 1% and about 99%, by a porosity between about 1% and about 50%, and by a thermal conductivity between about 1 watt per meter-Kelvin and about 320 watts per meter-Kelvin. The green body comprises a phosphor powder comprising at least one phosphor composition, wherein the phosphor powder particles are characterized by a D50 diameter between about 100 nanometers and about 500 micrometers, and the green body has a porosity between about 10% and about 80%. The aluminum-containing composition has a purity, on a metals basis, between about 90% and about 99.9999%. The fraction of free volume within the sealable container contains between about 10% and about 95% of liquid ammonia prior to heating the green body, the aluminum-containing composition, ammonia and the mineralizer composition in the sealable container.

A method for producing conductive materials from Nb-doped TiO2-particles, in which Nb-doped TiO2-particles are pressed to form bodies and the bodies are treated in an oxygen-containing atmosphere and at a reducing atmosphere.
HARD COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A cBN sinter comprising cubic boron nitride grains and a binder phase, the binder phase comprising Ti.sub.2CN and Co.sub.2B, wherein the ratio I.sub.Ti2CN/I.sub.Co2B of a peak intensity I.sub.Ti2CN assigned to Ti.sub.2CN appearing at 2θ = 41.9° to 42.2° to a peak intensity I.sub.TiAl3 assigned to Co.sub.2B appearing at 2θ = 45.7° to 45.9° is in a range of 0.5 and 2.0 in an XRD measurement.
ELECTRON-EMITTING CERAMIC
Embodiments are directed to the field of ceramics and relate to electron-emitting ceramics such as those which can be used as cathode material for electron emissions in space flight systems, for example. Embodiments specify an electron-emitting ceramic which has an improved temperature conductivity with a simultaneously continuous electron emission. The electron-emitting ceramic contains at least>70 vol. % C12A7 electride and a proportion of Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Os, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, Te, Tl, Pb, or Bi as metal and/or with Ti, wherein the proportion of the metals lies between>0 and<30 vol. %, and the ceramic has a density of at least 85% of the theoretical density of the ceramic and the ceramic contains 0 to maximally 10 vol. % production-specific impurities.
Surface-coated boron nitride sintered body tool
A surface-coated boron nitride sintered body tool is provided, in which at least a cutting edge portion includes a cubic boron nitride sintered body and a coating film formed on a surface of the cubic boron nitride sintered body. The coating film includes an A layer and a B layer. The A layer is formed of columnar crystals each having a particle size of 10 nm or more and 400 nm or less. The B layer is formed of columnar crystals each having a particle size of 5 nm or more and 70 nm or less. The B layer is formed by alternately stacking two or more compound layers having different compositions. The compound layers each have a thickness of 0.5 nm or more and 300 nm or less.
