A solid electrolyte includes partially stabilized zirconia in which a stabilizer forms a solid solution in zirconia. The partially stabilized zirconia includes at least monoclinic phase particles and cubic phase particles as crystal particles that configure the partially stabilized zirconia, and an abundance ratio of the monoclinic phase particle is 5 to 25% by volume. The partially stabilized zirconia includes stabilizer low-concentration phase particles of which concentration of the stabilizer at a particle center is equal to or less than 1 mol %, as the crystal particles. The stabilizer low-concentration phase particles have a particle-size distribution of number frequency thereof having a peak at which an average particle size is 0.6 to 1.0 μm, and a particle size at 10% of a cumulative number is 0.5 μm or greater, and of the overall low-concentration phase particles, 50% by volume or greater belong to the peak.

A ceramic contains, in mass percent: Si.sub.3N.sub.4: 20.0 to 60.0%, ZrO.sub.2: 25.0 to 70.0%, and one or more oxides selected from MgO, Y.sub.2O.sub.3, CeO.sub.2, CaO, HfO.sub.2, TiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2O.sub.3, SiO.sub.2, MoO.sub.3, CrO, CoO, ZnO, Ga.sub.2O.sub.3, Ta.sub.2O.sub.5, NiO, and V.sub.2O.sub.5: 5.0 to 15.0%. The ceramic has a coefficient of thermal expansion as high as that of silicon and an excellent mechanical strength, allows fine machining with high precision, and prevents particles from being produced.

The present invention provides a method for producing a zirconia particle-containing powder that enables easy production of a zirconia sintered body having both high translucency and high strength. The present invention relates to a method for producing a zirconia particle-containing powder, comprising a drying step of spray drying a slurry containing zirconia particles, wherein the zirconia particles have an average primary particle diameter of 30 nm or less, and the slurry comprises a dispersion medium containing a liquid having a surface tension at 25° C. of 50 mN/m or less. Preferably, the zirconia particles comprise 2.0 to 9.0 mol % yttria. Preferably, wherein the content of the liquid in the dispersion medium is 50 mass % or more.

A zirconia sintered body is provided and includes yttria and zirconia, containing yttria by a content ranging from 4.5 mol % or more to 6.5 mol % or less and zirconia as the remainder, the total light transmittance of a 1-mm thick sample measured in compliance with JIS K 7361-1 being 46.5% or higher, the three-point bending strength being 700 MPa or higher, and a ratio of an integrated value for the total light transmittance to an integrated value for the parallel light transmittance of a 1-mm thick sample measured at the measurement wavelength ranging from 400 to 700 nm being 1.3% or less.

The SiC matrix composite material, includes a SiC matrix and heat-resistant long fiber, wherein the SiC matrix includes both of alpha-type SiC and beta-type SiC, and the alpha-type SiC and the beta-type SiC are detected by micro-region X-ray diffraction with an X-ray beam diameter of no greater than 300 micrometers substantially at every region of every cross-section of the SiC matrix, the beta-type SiC has an average crystallite size that is no greater than 500 nm and greater than an average crystallite size of the alpha-type SiC, and the SiC matrix composite material has a porosity of no greater than 20% by volume.

A PRINTABLE NTC INK COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to a negative temperature coefficient product comprising an electrically conductive percolation network of printable NTC material as particles in a cross-linked dielectric polymer matrix and to a method of manufacturing thereof. The particles comprising a spinel phase, preferably a C-spinel phase, having a general formula M.sub.3O.sub.4 comprising at least a first metal M.sup.I that is manganese and second metal M.sup.II that is nickel. In addition the particles include a nickel oxide phase. The printable NTC material can be dispersed in a printable NTC ink comprising a dispersant, from which the NTC product, e.g. a thermistor, can be formed, e.g., after drying of the dispersant. During processing the ink is kept at a temperature below 300° C. Optionally, the spinel phase comprises a further metal M.sup.III. The weight fraction of nickel oxide with respect to the overall mass of the printable NTC material is preferably in a range between one and twenty weight percent.

A method for forming a transparent ceramic, in accordance with one embodiment, includes forming a green body by material jetting an ink, and processing the green body to form the ceramic to transparency. A product, in accordance with one embodiment, includes an ink for forming a transparent ceramic. The ink is physically characterized as having a density, surface tension, and viscosity configured to enable material jetting of the ink in contained, sequential droplets having a volume in the range of about 1 picoliter to about 1 nanoliter when jetted from a nozzle having an inner diameter in the range of about 10 microns to about 300 microns. A product, in accordance with another embodiment, includes a transparent ceramic, at least a portion of the transparent ceramic having layers of less than 50 microns per layer with physical characteristics of formation by material jetting.
