METHOD FOR PRODUCING A GREEN BODY LAYER BY LAYER FROM PULVEROUS MATERIAL BY MEANS OF INSERT ELEMENTS ARRANGED IN A DEFINED MANNER
20200122354 · 2020-04-23 ·

A method for the layered production of a green body (10) from powdery material, including insert elements which are placed at defined positions in the powdery material, in which the green body (10) is segmented in a building direction (16) into N, N2 consecutive, cylindrical cross-sectional areas (11, 12, 13, 14, 15) made up of a two-dimensional cross-sectional surface and a layer thickness. Setting areas for the insert elements are defined in the cross-sectional areas of the green body (10) which include the defined positions for the insert elements, and loose powder particles surrounding the setting elements are at least partially bonded to each other before the insert elements are placed into the powdery material.

A construction comprising a sintered polycrystalline super-hard layer having mutually opposite reinforced boundaries, each of which is bonded to a respective reinforcement structure, in which the super-hard layer includes polycrystalline diamond (PCD) material or polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) material. The construction will be configured such that the equivalent circle diameter of each reinforced boundary is at least ten times the mean thickness of the super-hard layer between them. The reinforcement structures will be substantially free of material having a melting point of less than 2,000 degrees Celsius, at least adjacent the reinforced boundaries.

Methods of forming a cutting element including a multi-layered cutting table, and related cutting elements and earth-boring tools
10605008 · 2020-03-31 · ·

A method of forming a cutting element comprises forming a first material comprising discrete coated particles within a container. The first material is pressed to form a first green structure comprising interbonded coated particles. A second material comprising additional discrete coated particles is formed over the first green structure within the container. The second material is pressed to form a second green structure comprising additional interbonded coated particles. The first green structure and the second green structure are sintered to form a multi-layered cutting table. Additional methods of forming a cutting element, a cutting element, and an earth-boring tool are also described.
