Open-flask hydroboration and the use thereof
The present disclosure generally relates to a process for hydroboration of an alkene or alkyne using ammonia borane (AB). In particular, the present invention relates to hydroboration of an alkene or alkyne in the presence of air or moisture, and a clean process for facile preparation of an alcohol by oxidizing the organoborane so formed with hydrogen peroxide. The products, including aminodialkylboranes, ammonia trialkylborane complexes, as well as various alcohols so prepared, are within the scope of this disclosure.

Purification methods
Provided are purification methods, comprising: (a) providing an organic solvent and a phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor, wherein the organic solvent has a first boiling point at standard atmospheric pressure (bp.sub.1) and the phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor has a second boiling point at standard atmospheric pressure (bp.sub.2) that satisfy the following inequality (I):
bp.sub.2(1.10)(bp.sub.1)(I); and
(b) heating the organic solvent and the phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor to a temperature causing the organic solvent and phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor to vaporize, and (ii) condensing the vaporized organic solvent and peroxide formation inhibitor to provide a purified mixture of the organic solvent and peroxide formation inhibitor. The methods find particular use in the purification of solvents that are useful in process chemicals for the manufacture of semiconductor devices.

METHOD FOR REMOVING OR COLLECTING 2-ALKOXYETHANOL, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING (2-ALKOXYETHYL) VINYL ETHER
To provide a method capable of easily and efficiently removing a 2-alkoxyethanol from a mixture containing the 2-alkoxyethanol and a (2-alkoxyethyl) vinyl ether while suppressing a decrease in the yield of (2-alkoxyethyl) vinyl ether.
A method for removing a 2-alkoxyethanol, including the step of adding one or more azeotropic solvents selected from the group consisting of alkanes having 7 to 8 carbon atoms and cycloalkanes having 7 to 8 carbon atoms to a mixture containing the 2-alkoxyethanol represented by the following formula (1)
ROCH.sub.2CH.sub.2OH(1) where R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and a (2-alkoxyethyl) vinyl ether represented by the following formula (2)
ROCH.sub.2CH.sub.2OCHCH.sub.2(2) where R has the same meaning as R in the formula (1), and subjecting the resulting mixture to azeotropic distillation.
