The present disclosure maximizes the recovery and maintenance of an effective height of an injured vertebral body, reduces occurrences of postoperative vertebral body collapses and kyphosis, and decreases fractures of pedicle screw nails and the connecting rod.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MULTI-STAGE ROBOTIC ASSISTED BONE PREPARATION FOR CEMENTLESS IMPLANTS
20230063760 · 2023-03-02 ·

Methods and systems for preparing a bone for a cementless joint implant are described. A first bone removal operation is performed using a burring device that has a first plurality of settings. The settings for the burring device are adjusted to a second plurality of settings, and a second bone removal operation is performed using the burring device. The adjustment to the settings may allow a surgeon to perform bulk bone removal in the first instance and fine bone removal in the second instance. The process of adjusting and performing subsequent bone removal operations may be performed any number of times during the bone preparation process. The adjustments to the settings may be received automatically from a computer-assisted surgical system, manually entered by a medical professional, or a combination of the two.

KNEE ARTHROPLASTY ALIGNMENT METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND INSTRUMENTS
20230118581 · 2023-04-20 ·

Systems and methods and for identifying a mechanical axis of a bone may include identifying an orientation of an intercondylar feature on the bone, projecting a plane based on the orientation of the intercondylar feature, and identifying the orientation of the mechanical axis of the bone based on the plane. The plane may contain at least a portion of the intercondylar feature and the mechanical axis of the bone therein.

Orthopedic Articulating Instrument
20230122627 · 2023-04-20 ·

The present disclosure relates to an orthopedic instrument. The orthopedic instrument includes an elongated hollow shaft having a proximal end and a distal end. The orthopedic instrument also includes a rod having a proximal end and a distal end. The rod is positioned at least partially within a lumen of the elongated hollow shaft. The orthopedic instrument also includes a cutting head having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the cutting head is coupled to the distal end of the rod. The cutting head is rotatably coupled to the distal end of the elongated hollow shaft between the proximal end of the cutting head and the distal end of the cutting head. A movement of the rod within the lumen of the elongated hollow shaft in a distal direction causes cutting head to transition from a straight configuration to an angled configuration.

Bi-planar instrument for bone cutting and joint realignment procedure

A technique for correcting a bone deformity, such as a bunion, may be performed using an instrument that defines a spacer body connected to a fulcrum. The spacer body portion of the instrument can be inserted into a joint space between opposed bone ends. The fulcrum body can be inserted between adjacent metatarsals. An angle set between the spacer body and fulcrum body can help properly position both features within different joint spaces for ensuring that subsequent steps of the surgical procedure are properly performed and instrumentation is appropriately aligned.

Method of controlling instrumentation depth in total joint arthroplasty

A method to guide in preparation of a bone relies on an instrument having a shaft with a working end and a stop member. The shaft is free to translate along an axis. Surgical planning data is registered to the bone to determine intra-operative coordinates of the desired axis and depth. The instrument holder is positioned by the bone so the stop member contacts the instrument holder to prevent translating beyond the desired depth. Alternatively, an arm is manipulated to align the instrument with the desired axis. The working end rests on the bone to define a linear separation to the desired depth. By proximally translating the instrument holder to contact the stop member and distally translating the instrument holder along the shaft, the stop member physically stops translating beyond the desired depth. A surgical system for performing the methods is provided; a reamer or impactor are also disclosed.

Bone coupling device and method

A bone coupling device is configured for joining a first bone piece to a second bone piece which includes a first component having an inner surface bounding a first cavity and a first stem portion for insertion into the first bone piece. A second component includes a second stem portion for insertion into the second bone piece and an axially extending connector extending from the second stem portion and configured to be inserted into the first cavity. The connector has an outer surface which is complementarily shaped relative to an inner surface to inhibit rotation relative to each other when the connector is received in the cavity to engage the first component and the second component.

Method of treating osteoarthritis of the knee
11660198 · 2023-05-30 ·

The method of treating osteoarthritis of the knee (OAK) includes resection of the patella, patellar tendon, proximal tibia, and distal femur, and bone grafting after resection. The bone grafting includes using a single complete osteo-articular allograft configured to replace the knee joint, distal femur, and proximal tibia. Metallic plates are used for internal fixation of the allograft. The procedure can provide patients with full knee flexion, and thereby enable kneeling, e.g., as required in the Islamic prayer.

SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR FORMING BIPLANAR OSTEOTOMIES

Apparatus and methods are disclosed for determining and placing a first bony segment in relation with a second bony segment, both segments belonging to the same bone, including cutting said bone partially, to separate it into the first and second bony segment. The two bony segments are linked together by a bony hinge and placing the two boney segments in relation to each other may include distracting both bony segments around said hinge. The hinge may be configured to allow distraction of both bony segments around a single degree of freedom of the hinge and accommodate corrections in two substantially orthogonal planes.
