SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method comprises the steps of: fixing a distal end of a first member of a surgical instrument with tissue, the surgical instrument including a second member having a longitudinal passageway configured for disposal of the first member and being connected with a navigation component such that the distal end is disposable with the passageway at a selected distance from the navigation component, the navigation component being positioned relative to a sensor to communicate a signal representative of an orientation of the first member; removing the second member from the first member; and connecting a third member with the first member along the orientation such that a distal end of the third member is fixed with the tissue. Systems, spinal implants, constructs and instruments are disclosed.

A method of, and apparatus for, directing an elongate flexible component with a length through a part of a human body. The method includes the steps of: obtaining an apparatus having an elongate body with a length between axially spaced leading and trailing ends and a notch through a peripheral surface of the elongate body; directing a midlength part of the elongate flexible component into the notch to place the elongate flexible component into an operative position on the apparatus; and with the elongate flexible component in the operative position, advancing the elongate body through the part of the human body and thereby causing a portion of the elongate flexible component to be drawn by a drawing surface on the elongate body through the part of the human body.

Spinal surgery system and methods of use

A method for surgically treating a spine comprising the steps of: pre-operatively imaging vertebral tissue; displaying a first image of a surgical treatment configuration for the vertebral tissue from a mixed reality display and/or a second image of a surgical strategy for implementing the surgical treatment configuration with the vertebral tissue from the mixed reality display; determining a surgical plan for implementing the surgical strategy; and intra-operatively displaying a third image of the surgical plan with the vertebral tissue from the mixed reality display. Systems, spinal constructs, implants and surgical instruments are disclosed.

Lateral cortex penetrator

A system for penetrating the lateral cortex of a long bone includes a tubular cortex penetrator having an inner surface and an outer surface, a proximal end, and a distal end comprising a beveled cutting edge configured to penetrate the lateral cortex. A guide wire is configured to pass over the tubular cortex penetrator, and a guide sleeve is configured to surround the outer surface of the tubular cortex penetrator. A hollow extraction screw with an axial bore, a proximal end, a distal end, and a threaded cutting edge is configured to pass through the axial bore of the hollow extraction screw; and the hollow extraction screw is configured to retract into a distal end of a bore through the tubular cortex penetrator.

MEDICAL DEVICE, SURGICAL KIT AND A METHOD FOR PERFORMING OSTEOTOMY

A surgical kit and a method for performing osteotomy is disclosed. The surgical kit comprises at least two lateral plates and a central plate. The two lateral plates are scaled and fixed over a surgical bone adjacent to each other with an exact distance measured by the scaled lateral plates while the central plate is over two lateral plates to maintain the alignment. The distance is equal to the shortening amount of bone based on the pre-operative measurements. The central plate slides laterally over the two lateral plates to expose the surgical site of the bone. Shortening osteotomy is performed to shorten the bone equal to the distance between the two lateral plates. The central plate then laterally slides over the two lateral plates to achieve the anatomic alignment. Further, the central plate and the two lateral plates are securely fixed to the bone using one or more fasteners.

Stereotactic Computer Assisted Surgery Method and System

A computer assisted surgical system that includes an apparatus for imaging a region of interest of a portion of an anatomy of a subject; a memory containing executable instructions; and a processor programmed using the instructions to receive two or more two-dimensional images of the region of interest taken at different angles from the apparatus and process the two or more two-dimensional images to produce three dimensional information associated with the region of interest.

JOINT REPAIR SYSTEM

A joint stabilization (reduction) system and associated methods and tools for placement of the system in an open or minimally invasive technique. The joint stabilization system includes a flexible prosthetic band for stabilizing the bones in proper position and a connector mechanism for joining the two ends of the prosthetic band around the bones. One end of the prosthetic band can be permanently attached to the connector.

Collapsible Surgical Fastener
20230218319 · 2023-07-13 ·

A surgical fastener includes a cannulated collapsible fastening body having a trailing end and a leading end and defining a passage extending from the trailing end to the leading end, and a pin having a non-threaded shaft at least partially disposed within the passage and an enlarged tip. A method of using the surgical fastener includes engaging an end of a driver with a recess in a head of the surgical fastener, including inserting an extension at the end of the driver into the passage, and inserting the fastener into a bore in a bone during which the extension of the driver abuts a trailing end of the shaft of the pin to prevent the pin from moving in a direction from the leading end to the trailing end relative to the fastening body.

Modified intervastus arthrotomy closure method

A method for arthrotomy closure includes using a first sutured needle to form a first series of parallel stitches from a caudal end of the arthrotomy incision to a first point spaced from the cephalad end of the arthrotomy incision, using a second sutured needle to form a second series of parallel stitches from a cephalad end of the arthrotomy incision to the caudal end of the arthrotomy incision. The second series of stitches intersect the first series of stitches at a 45 degree angle after passing the first point. After the second series of stitches is formed, the first sutured needle is used to form a third series of stitches from the first point to the cephalad end of the arthrotomy incision. The third series of stitches are parallel to the first series of stitches and intersect the second series of stitches at a 45 degree angle.
