A method and system provide and use a patellar implant. The patellar implant includes a superior portion, an inferior portion opposite to the superior portion, and an anterior portion. The superior portion being configured to reside below a patellar tendon and to elevate and/or tilt the patellar tendon. The inferior portion is configured to be seated in proximity to a tibia. The anterior portion is between the superior portion and the inferior portion. The anterior portion is placed in proximity to a patella. In one aspect, the method includes inserting the implant beneath the patellar tendon and between the patella and a position at which the patellar tendon is affixed to the tibia. In this aspect, the method also includes affixing the implant.

A surgical guide can include a first portion comprising an outer surface configured to conform to a portion of an acetabulum of a particular patient. The first portion can be configured to accommodate the ligamentum teres of the patient. The surgical guide can be configured to receive a second portion that includes an alignment portion defining an alignment axis such that when the surgical guide is coupled to the acetabulum, the alignment axis is oriented at a predetermined orientation relative to the acetabulum. The second portion can include a depth-limiting feature configured to limit insertion of a guide rod along the axis to a patient-specific insertion depth.

Method and apparatus for implanting a prosthesis

Disclosed is a system for engaging and holding a prosthesis both axially and rotationally relative to an inserter assembly. The inserter assembly can engage an acetabular prosthesis in a selected position, such as axially, with a first portion and then or subsequently engage the acetabular prosthesis with a second portion in a rotationally fixed manner. The acetabular prosthesis can then be inserted into a prepared acetabulum according to a disclosed method with the inserter assembly. The inserter assembly can then be removed from the acetabular prosthesis to allow for reduction of a femur.

Intramedullary fixation device
09763708 · 2017-09-19 ·

A intramedullary fixation device for use in fixating, after an osteotomy or fracture, segments of a long, tubular bone that has been prepared for the use with the device by cutting into the bone a longitudinal-axis-aligned slot that extends from the free surface to the medullary cavity of the bone, includes: (a) an intramedullary beam whose beam cross-sectional shape varies along the beam's longitudinal axis, (b) a fin whose fin cross-sectional shape varies along the fin's longitudinal axis and a portion of which is attached to the beam surface, (c) wherein the area of any beam cross-sectional section is set so that it can be located in the bone's medullary cavity, and (e) wherein the area of any fin cross section is set so that it can be accommodated in the slot that is cut into the bone.

Moldable cushion for implants
09757156 · 2017-09-12 ·

Custom moldable cushions for covering medical implants fastened to a bone are provided. Such cushions inhibit irritation of the surrounding soft tissue by covering the bone-implant interface and by reducing friction caused by movement of soft tissue adjacent the implant. Such cushions may also be employed to spread and absorb forces reducing patient discomfort and risk of injury and infection associated with such implants.

Surgical instrument

A surgical instrument with a first contact element and a second contact element for spreading tissue, bone, or the like. The instrument has a stationary base part and a sliding part, which is arranged on the base part in a longitudinally movable manner. The first contact element is integrally molded on the distal end of the base part, and the second contact element is connected to the base part and to the sliding part via a first arm and to the base part via a second arm. The first arm is arranged on the second contact element via a first pivot axis, on the base part via a second pivot axis, and on the sliding part via a third pivot axis, and the second arm is arranged on the second contact element via a fourth pivot axis and on the first contact element via a fifth pivot axis.
