Electrosurgical system

An electrosurgical system can include an electrosurgical generator, a feedback circuit or controller, and an electrosurgical tool. The feedback circuit can provide an electrosurgery endpoint by determining the phase end point of a tissue to be treated. The electrosurgical system can include more than one electrosurgical tool for different electrosurgical operations and can include a variety of user interface features and audio/visual performance indicators. The electrosurgical system can also power conventional bipolar electrosurgical tools and direct current surgical appliances.

Cryoablation method and system

A system and method for providing greater control over the temperature of a thermal treatment element of a medical device, enabling an operator to extend a thawing period of a cryoablation procedure. The system may include a fluid flow path that bypasses a subcooler, giving the operator selective control over the temperature of refrigerant delivered to the treatment element and, therefore, treatment element temperature. Additionally or alternatively, the system may include a fluid delivery conduit that is in communication with a liquid refrigerant and a gaseous refrigerant. Adjustment of the ratio of liquid to gaseous refrigerant also offers control over the treatment element temperature. Additionally or alternatively, the system may include one or more valves and/or heating elements in the fluid delivery and recovery conduits to control the treatment element temperature.

There is provided a process for treatment of rhinitis by diode laser ablation of the posterior nasal nerves. The laser diode delivery device with elongated optic tip is inserted through a patient's nostril and has the length, flexibility and a curvature to reach both above and under the patient's middle turbinate for treatment to both posterior nasal nerves. Skin and tissue temperature is raised to approximately 60-65° C. with the process. Optimal treatment wavelength was found to be approximately 380-450 nanometers with blue lasers.

Cryogenic enhancement of joint function, alleviation of joint stiffness and/or alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis

Embodiments include a cryogenic device for alleviating pain by cryogenically treating a nerve, the cryogenic device including a handpiece; a needle coupled to a distal end of the handpiece, the needle including a needle lumen, the needle being configured for insertion into a skin of a patient along an insertion axis at a site laterally displaced from a treatment zone proximate to the nerve. The needle is configured to resiliently bend after insertion away from the insertion axis, such that at least a portion of the needle is adapted to traverse a skin layer laterally toward the treatment zone. The device includes a cooling fluid supply tube extending distally into the needle lumen; and a cooling fluid source, wherein the cooling fluid source is coupled to the cooling fluid supply tube to direct cooling fluid into the needle lumen.

SKIN TREATMENT DEVICE

The invention relates to a skin treatment device comprising a handle with an energy supply, an application head with at least one heat source comprising at least one semiconductor light source, and at least one heat sink comprising cooling fins. The heat sink is located remote from the heat source within the handle. Further, the heat source is thermally connected to the heat sink by means of a heat transfer system (6, 6′, 6″) which comprises a hermetically sealed tubular body containing a working medium, wherein the pressure within the tubular body is chosen such that the working medium is a saturated liquid at room temperature and may be vaporized by the heat source.

A cryosurgical instrument, in particular a biopsy instrument for transbronchial biopsy, having an elongated instrument base body with a distal and proximal end, in relation to the operational position, a cooled section close to the distal end and which removes tissue, said section being designed such that surrounding biological material adheres thereto, by means of cryoadhesion, when said instrument is in use in the cooled state, and a security section which is provided at a distance from the tissue removal section and which comprises means for preventing or reducing the adhesion of biological material.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADJUSTING IN-TANK PRESSURE OF WORKING MEDIUM STORAGE TANK

Provided are a method for adjusting an in-tank pressure of a working medium storage tank and an apparatus for the same. The method includes: acquiring a backflow temperature collected by each of first thermocouples; counting the number of target backflow paths whose backflow temperature reaches a preset temperature; and adjusting an in-tank pressure of the working medium storage tank to a target in-tank pressure corresponding to the number of the target backflow paths according to the number of the target backflow paths and a corresponding relationship between a preset number of backflow paths and the in-tank pressure. The control box determines the target in-tank pressure corresponding to the number of the target backflow paths to realize automatic adjustment of the in-tank pressure of the working medium storage tank.

High Pressure, Low Temperature Coupling

Disclosed herein are devices, systems, and method for multi-stage, reusable coupling. Such a coupler can have a formable flow path and can include a first sealing engagement and a second sealing engagement. The first sealing engagement can be configured to provide a first seal of the coupler at a first temperature condition. The second sealing engagement can be configured to provide a second seal of the coupler at a second temperature condition that is different from the first temperature condition.

CRYOABLATION SYSTEM WITH MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING DETECTION

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guided surgical system is provided that includes one or more surgical tools having components configured to develop reactive effects when exposed to MR signals generated by the MRI system. The system includes a control system that can determine whether the MR system is generating MR signals, and if the control system determines that the MR system is generating MR signals, mitigates the reactive effects of MR signals on components of the surgical tools. The system can include a cryoablation system with a cryoprobe having a probe shaft being made of a metallic material. If the control system determines that the MR system is generating MR signals, the control system can electrically disconnect the cryoprobe and/or ignore electrical signals generated by the electric heater in response to exposure to MR signals, and/or initiate a cooling operation of the probe shaft, whereby the cooling operation.
