The present invention relates to compounds comprising two biguanidyl radicals that can be useful as anti-inflammatory agent, and also to new compounds comprising two biguanidyl radicals and their use as a drug, in particular for treating a cancer, a metabolic disease, a secondary mitochondrial disorder due to copper overload including Indian childhood cirrhosis, Wilson's disease and Idiopathic infantile copper toxicosis or due to iron overload, an infection by a virus such as a coronavirus or an influenza virus, a neurodegenerative disease or disorder and aging.

The present invention provides a crystalline salt of chlorhexidine chloride having a spherical morphology under Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) comprising a chloride anion and a cation selected from the group consisting of calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, strontium or iron, processes for the preparation of the salt, compositions, pharmaceutical compositions and uses thereof in medicine. Also provided are crystalline forms of the salt and fibres comprising the same.

This application relates to a novel chlorhexidine lauryl sulfate salt, which provides enhanced chlorhexidine stability and enhanced anti-bacterial activity, and to formulations and methods utilizing the novel salt.

Novel tris-substituted biguanide compounds are made by reaction of sodium dicyanamide with a trifunctional primary amine followed by reaction with anilines. The tris-substituted biguanide compounds are potent biocide and useful as a disinfectant. The novel compounds have biocidal activity comparable to those of widely used chlorhexidine with respect to width of antibacterial spectrum and in immediate effectiveness. The novel tris-substituted biguanide compounds can also be used for cleaning wounds, preventing dental plaque, treating yeast infections of the mouth, and to keep urinary catheters from blocking, These novel compounds have superior aqueous solubility and bioavailability and have potent antibacterial activity especially against A. baumanni and K. pneumonia.
