An apparatus includes a catheter shaft assembly and an end effector. The end effector is configured to transition between a first configuration and a second configuration. The end effector is configured to fit within an outer sheath in the first configuration. The end effector is configured to expand outwardly away from the longitudinal axis in the second configuration when exposed distally relative to the distal end of the outer sheath. The end effector includes a resilient frame assembly that is configured to resiliently bias the end effector toward the second configuration. The end effector further includes a first flex circuit assembly secured to the resilient frame assembly. The first flex circuit assembly includes a first flexible substrate and a first plurality of electrodes positioned on the first flexible substrate. The electrodes are configured to pick up electrical potentials from tissue or blood or ablate tissue.
CATHETER BALLOON HAVING INCREASED RESILIENCE TO INTERNAL PRESSURIZATION
A catheter balloon comprises an ellipsoidal membrane. A plurality of flexible circuit strips, each of which comprises a substrate and a contact electrode, are disposed about the membrane. A coating is disposed atop at least the outer surface of the membrane and may also be disposed atop a portion of each of the substrates. The coating may comprise a dielectric material, such as parylene. The coating may increase the smoothness of the balloon. When subject to internal pressures that expand the balloon, the coating may also increase the resilience of the balloon relative to a balloon that lacks the coating as determined by changes in the balloon's diameter before and after expansion.
Electrode assembly
An expandable electrode assembly for use in a cardiac mapping procedure includes multiple bipolar electrode pairs including a first electrode located on an outer surface and a second electrode located on an inner surface of the individual splines forming the expandable electrode assembly. Such an electrode arrangement may produce improved electrical activation signals which may be used to produce a more accurate map of the electrical activity of a patient's heart.
Renal denervation system
A system for use in a renal denervation procedure includes a catheter having proximal and distal end portions, a sensor configured to sense a condition of one or more nerves, the sensor operatively associated with the distal end portion of the catheter, and at least one electrode disposed on the distal end portion of the catheter for delivering energy to renal tissue. A catheter includes a catheter body defining a distal end portion and a proximal end portion, and a sensor for sensing a renal sympathetic nerve, the sensor disposed on the distal end portion of the catheter body, wherein the sensor is configured to sense an electromagnetic signal from the renal sympathetic nerve.
Tissue ablation and monitoring thereof
An ablation catheter including an elongate shaft, an inflatable balloon positioned at a distal region of the elongate shaft, a first ablation electrode disposed outside of and carried by an outer surface of the inflatable balloon, a first ultrasound transducer disposed outside of the inflatable balloon, and a flexible circuit. The flexible circuit includes a first conductor and a second conductor and is disposed outside of and carried by the outer surface of the inflatable balloon. The first conductor is in electrical communication with the first ablation electrode, and the second conductor in electrical communication with the first ultrasound transducer.
Apparatus and methods for resecting and/or ablating an undesired tissue
There is provided herein a catheter for resecting an undesired tissue from a body of a subject, the catheter comprising a tip section in a shape of a cylinder or a cylinder's sector having a central longitudinal axis, the tip section comprising: a central longitudinal lumen; a first set of optical fibers configured to transmit laser radiation outside a distal extremity of the tip section, in a direction parallel to the central longitudinal axis; a second set of optical fibers configured to transmit laser radiation, transversely to the central longitudinal axis; wherein the first set of optical fibers and the second set of optical fibers are selectively operable to resect and/or ablate the undesired tissue.
Graphical user interface for association with an electrode structure deployed in contact with a tissue region
Systems and methods deploy an electrode structure in contact with the tissue region. The electrode structure carries a sensor at a known location on the electrode structure to monitor an operating condition. The systems and methods provide an interface, which generate an idealized image of the electrode structure and an indicator image to represent the monitored operating condition in a spatial position on the idealized image corresponding to the location of the sensor on the electrode structure. The interface displays a view image comprising the idealized image and indicator image. The systems and methods cause the electrode structure to apply energy to heat the tissue region while the view image is displayed on the display screen.
Delivering Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) Using Implantable Transducer Arrays
Tumor treating fields (TTFields) can be delivered by implanting a plurality of sets of implantable electrode elements within a person’s body. Temperature sensors positioned to measure the temperature at the electrode elements are also implanted, along with a circuit that collects temperature measurements from the temperature sensors. In some embodiments, an AC voltage generator configured to apply an AC voltage across the plurality of sets of electrode elements is also implanted within the person’s body.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF A PATIENT INCLUDING RF AND ELECTRICAL ENERGY
A device for a soft tissue treatment of a patient. The device includes an applicator including at least one electrode, a fastening mechanism to fix the applicator to a body part of a patient, and a control unit including a microprocessor to control the at least one electrode. The at least one electrode may provide a radiofrequency energy and an electric current. The radiofrequency energy may cause a heating of a soft tissue. The electric current may cause a muscle contraction. The body part includes a face or a chin.
ELECTRIC FIELD APPLICATION FOR SINGLE SHOT CARDIAC ABLATION BY IRREVERSIBLE ELECTROPORATION
Disclosed herein are apparatus, systems, and methods for ablating tissue in a patient by electroporation. Embodiments generally include an ablation catheter having a hand, a shaft, and an electroporation electrode arrangement. The shaft has a distal end and defines a longitudinal axis of the ablation catheter. The electroporation electrode arrangement is at the distal end of the shaft and is configured to generate a multidirectional electric field when at least one pulse sequence is delivered thereto. The multidirectional electric field includes at least two of the following directions relative to the longitudinal axis: generally axial, circumferential, and transverse. The electroporation electrode arrangement is configured to operatively couple to an electroporation generator that is configured to generate the at least one pulse sequence and is configured to receive the at least one pulse sequence from the electroporation generator.
