Signal connector for sterile barrier between surgical instrument and teleoperated actuator
An instrument sterile drape includes a plastic sheet and an instrument sterile adapter (ISA) coupled to the plastic sheet. The ISA includes bottom and top plates located on opposite sides of the plastic sheet plate and joined together. A passage in the bottom plate allows an instrument carriage flux connection to pass through the plastic sheet and the bottom plate to be adjacent to the top plate. The top plate includes a signal transmission area that will be adjacent to an upper surface of the flux connection of the instrument carriage. A flux connector may close an opening in the signal transmission area of the top plate and provide a path for an electrical or optical signal. The signal transmission area of the top plate may be thinned to allow an RFID sensor to be closer to an RFID device in a surgical instrument attached to the instrument sterile adapter.
Method and system for consistent, repeatable, and safe cryospray treatment of airway tissue
A method and system for automated and semi-automated predictable, consistent, safe, effective, and lumen-specific and patient-specific cryospray treatment of airway tissue in which treatment duration is automatically set by the system following entry of patient information and treatment location information into the system by the user, and treatment spray is automatically stopped by the system when the automatically selected treatment duration has been achieved as determined by the system.
Thermal regulation catheter system
A thermal regulation catheter system and method of use are disclosed, for moderating the temperature and other parameters of tissue surrounding a target tissue for an ablation procedure, or for performing a thermal treatment procedure. In an embodiment, the device includes a catheter having a shaft with a fluid supply line and a fluid return line disposed therein, and an inflatable heat exchange vessel at a distal end of the shaft. The fluid supply line supplies fluid to inflate the heat exchange vessel, and the fluid return line conducts fluid away from the heat exchange vessel.
Medical device with multi-core fiber for optical sensing
A medical device, system, and method having a flexible shaft and a multi-core fiber within the flexible shaft. The multi-core fiber includes a plurality of optical cores dedicated for shape sensing sensors, and a plurality of optical cores dedicated for force sensing sensors. A medical device flexing structure assembly can comprise a multi-core fiber comprising a plurality of cores, and a flexing structure comprising at least one slot. Each of the plurality of cores can comprise a fiber Bragg grating, and the flexing structure can be configured to bend in response to a force imparted on the flexing structure.
DEVICE FOR AN ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
The invention relates to a device for an electrosurgical instrument, comprising a coupling unit, said coupling unit having a fluid line connection and a current line connection which are designed to carry fluid and current, via a fluid line of the device and at least one current line of the device, between a higher-level assembly and a distal end of the device and a filter, the filter being provided separately from the coupling unit in a fluid flow path of the fluid line, such that the fluid flowing through the fluid line flows through the filter.
Apparatus and a method for the treatment of a prostatic disease
Treatments for prostatic disease use a urethral catheter with ports positioned outside a patient. The catheter's lumen has a cross-sectional shape and an electrode assembly with a shaft having a corresponding cross-sectional shape that interlocks with the shape of the lumen. The shaft includes a plurality of shaft channels, an extendable electrode in each channel, and a collar with a protruding flange that interfaces with a port when the electrode assembly is within the lumen. An electrode actuator controls actuation of the electrodes. The collar and actuator are interfaced via a keyed structure. A plurality of ports in the assembly interface with the lumen and project the electrodes outward through the catheter and into the prostate when actuated. The electrodes are extended in a predefined rotational orientation relative to the keyed structure. A power source is coupled to the electrodes and delivers direct current to the prostate.
Surgical instrument, robotic surgical system, and method of detaching surgical instrument attached to robot arm of robotic surgical system through adaptor
A surgical instrument according to an embodiment may include: a base body including an attachment surface for the adaptor; a surgical tool; driven members rotatably provided on the base body; a housing covering the driven members; and first and second movable members movable with respect to the housing and the base body. The attachment surface of the base body includes a first guide groove and a second guide groove that slidably receive a first guide rail and a second guide rail provided on the adaptor respectively. The first and second guide grooves are defined by the base body and the first and second movable members such that groove widths of the first and second guide grooves are variable by moving the first and second movable members with respect to the base body.
Multi-stage instrument connector
An instrument connector comprises a housing, a first connector, and a second connector. The housing includes a proximal face at a proximal end of the instrument connector, and the proximal face is coincident with a reference plane. The first connector extends proximally away from the proximal face and includes a rod and a first interface for a first transmission channel. The rod is configured to mate with a first socket of a console connector. The second connector is recessed within the housing, includes a second interface for a second transmission channel, and is configured to mate with a second socket of the console connector. The proximal end of the second connector is distal to the reference plane. The rod is configured to engage with the first socket to at least partially align the second connector with the second socket before the second connector engages with the second socket.
Latch release for surgical instrument
A surgical instrument includes a proximal control mechanism having an instrument control surface. The instrument control surface has two openings through which two resilient latch arms can be inserted to engage a fixed latch structure contained within the proximal control mechanism. The fixed latch structure provides two lead-in ramps that force the resilient latch arms onto locking surfaces. The resilient latch arms are contained entirely within the proximal control mechanism when engaged. Inward forces can be applied to two buttons to apply an outward force on the resilient latch arms and release them from the locking surfaces of the fixed latch structure. Each of the two buttons is accessible from one of two opposite outside surfaces of the proximal control mechanism.
Medical tool for endoscope
A medical device includes a snare wire advanceable and retractable inserted through a channel in an insertion portion that is inserted through an endoscope; a substantially tubular cap member including a first portion and a second portion connected to a distal end of the insertion portion, the cap member having an annular distal end surface, the first portion being attachable to the distal end of the insertion portion in phase with the channel, and the cap member having an internal space formed by the first portion and the second portion; and a guide member being linearly extended along an internal surface of the distal end side of the cap member at a side of the second portion, the guide member being configured to guide the snare wire to form a loop and to restrict a retraction of the snare wire toward the side of the insertion portion.
