DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF TUMORS USING ELECTROMAGNETIC SIGNAL
Systems and methods for treating cancerous tumors (including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)) with electrotherapy, such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) technology, as disclosed herein. One or more configurations can be generated based on a patients tumor characteristics. The selected configurations can be electrode configurations or settings for an electrical source coupled to the electrodes. The one or more configurations can be targeted for inhibiting cell growth process, such as to inhibit mitosis, immune suppression, or to inhibit DNA replication. Inhibition of cell growth processes can initiate death of the cancerous cells.
Sphincterotome device and methods and uses thereof
A sphincterotome device can be used to achieve appropriate positioning within the biliary duct during cannulation. The sphincterotome device enables performance of a “double-wire” or multiple wire procedure without the need for removal and reintroduction of the sphincterotome device, thereby allowing for a shorter procedure.
Cooling and refrigeration based on vacuum-driven water evaporation
Apparatus for cooling an object, space, or tissues of a patient. A vacuum chamber is designed to be placed in thermal contact with the object or space to be cooled, or against a patient to be treated. A water sprayer is configured to spray water into the vacuum chamber or against a cooling wall of the chamber. A vacuum pump and control are designed to maintain vacuum below ambient pressure in the vacuum chamber sufficient to cause accelerated evaporation of the water and cooling to a temperature desired for cooling of the object, space, or patient.
Surgical instrument with imaging device
A loading unit configured for engagement with a surgical instrument, and including a proximal body portion, an end effector, and an imaging device. The end effector is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the proximal body portion, and includes a first jaw member and a second jaw member. At least one of the first jaw member and the second jaw member is movable with respect to the other of the first jaw member and the second jaw member between an open position and an approximated position. The first jaw member includes a first tissue contacting surface, and the second jaw member includes a second tissue contacting surface. A distal portion of the first jaw member is disposed at a first angle with respect to the first tissue contacting surface. The imaging device is disposed on the distal portion of the first jaw member, and is configured to capture visual data.
KNIFE HEAD ASSEMBLY OF A NOVEL MEDICAL ELECTROTOME AND A NOVEL MEDICAL ELECTROTOME
The present invention provides a knife head assembly of a novel medical electrotome and a novel medical electrotome. The knife head assembly comprises a snare ring and a cutting knife, the cutting knife comprises a knife handle fixedly connected to a distal end of the snare ring and a knife head fixedly connected to a distal end of the knife handle; the surface of the knife handle is provided with two grooves that are arranged symmetrically and extend in a length direction of the knife handle, the knife handle is further provided with a through-hole penetrating through the knife handle, the two ends of the through-hole are in communication with the two grooves respectively, the distal end of the snare ring is inserted through the through-hole, and the parts of the snare ring on the two sides of the through-hole are limited in the grooves, thus the distal end of the snare ring is embedded and fixed in the knife handle. In the present invention, the snare ring and the cutting knife are mechanically fixed in an embedded manner, and the distal end of the snare ring is inserted and embedded in the knife handle of the cutting knife; the fixed connection structure is stable and reliable, effectively prevents the cutting knife from falling off from the distal end of the snare ring accidentally, and thereby improves the safety of surgical operations.
Electrosurgical device and methods
A tissue segmentation device, controller, and methods therefore are disclosed. The device has an active electrode, a return electrode, a mechanical force application mechanism, voltage and current sensors, and a controller. The controller has a processing component, configured to assign a circuit status to a circuit comprising the at least one electrode. IF (PF≈0) and ((Vrms/Irms)≥T), THEN the circuit status is “open”. IF (PF≈0) and ((Vrms/Irms)<T), THEN the circuit status is “short”. PF is a power factor of power applied to the electrosurgical device. T is a threshold value.
ENDOSCOPE TREATMENT TOOL
An endoscope treatment tool includes a sheath, a knife, a connecting unit and a body. The sheath includes a first channel opened at a distal end of the sheath. The knife inserted into the first channel, the knife having a second channel extending from a distal end of the knife to a proximal end of the knife. The connecting unit is located inside the sheath, the connecting unit including a cavity internal to the connecting unit and defining a storage path. A cross-sectional area of the cavity is larger than a cross-sectional area of the second channel. The body disposed in the cavity. The body is translatable in the cavity between a first position and a second position. The body forms a passage and, in the first position, the passage is in communication with the second channel.
Methods and systems for directed tissue ablation
Methods of ablating endometrial tissue are disclosed. The methods include providing an ablation device that has a catheter with a hollow shaft through which an ablative agent can travel, a first positioning element, and a second positioning element positioned on the catheter distal to the first positioning element. The second positioning element is a disc shaped wire mesh and has a diameter in a range of 0.1 mm to 10 cm.
Devices and methods for inducing ablation in or around occluded implants
A bipolar ablation device for treatment of a stenosis within an implanted metallic stent may include an elongate shaft slidably disposable within an endoscope, the elongate shaft including at least one electrode configured to form a first pole of the bipolar ablation device, and an electrode lead slidably disposable within the endoscope. The electrode lead may be configured to electrically engage the implanted metallic stent to form a second pole of the bipolar ablation device. The elongate shaft may be positionable within a lumen of the implanted metallic stent.
Multi-stage vapor-based ablation treatment methods and vapor generation and delivery systems
Ablation catheters and systems include flexible catheter tips with a distal needle or ports for delivery of an ablative agent to a target tissue. Pressure monitoring during ablation ensure operation is performed within safe limits and with desired efficacy. Positioning elements help maintain the devices in the proper position with respect to the target tissue and also prevent the passage of ablative agent to normal tissues.
