Synthesis of antimicrobial silsesquioxane-silica hybrids
One-pot synthetic methods are disclosed for synthesizing curable, antimicrobial silsesquioxane-silica hybrids by hydrolytically co-condensing a tetraalkoxysilane with two different trialkoxysilanes. Particles are also disclosed that are substantially spherical and have an ordered lamellar internal structure. In addition, polymers prepared front the curable, antimicrobial silsesquioxane-silica hybrids and co-monomers are disclosed.
FUNCTIONALIZED PARTICLES HAVING MODIFIED PHASES
Modified silica particles are provided. Aspects of the particles include an outer layer that is composed of organically-modified silica comprising a siloxane-linked hydrophilic group, such as a charged functional group or a polar neutral functional group. The modified silica particles can form the basis of a variety of chromatography support materials. Also provided are methods of preparing the subject particles. Aspects of the methods include contacting silica particles with water, an ionic fluoride and an organosilane reagent comprising a hydrophilic moiety to produce modified silica particles wherein the hydrophilic moiety of the organosilane reagent is incorporated into an outer layer of the silica particles. Chromatography supports and kits including the subject particles and methods of using the same are also provided.
LENS OIL HAVING A NARROW MOLECULAR WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION FOR INTRAOCULAR LENS DEVICES
A silicone oil having a mean molecular weight average greater than about 20,000 Daltons, with no more than about 3% to about 4% of the total silicone oil by weight being comprised of components having a molecular weight less than about 15,000 Daltons. In some embodiments, the silicone oil is used in intraocular lens devices.

The invention relates to a composition comprising olefinically functionalized siloxane oligomers derived from olefinically functionalized alkoxysilanes and optionally alkoxysilanes functionalized with saturated hydrocarbons, and also, optionally, a tetraalkoxysilane, which have not more than one olefinic radical on the silicon atom, and whose chloride content is reduced, and also to processes for preparing them and to the use thereof.
Low viscosity, low volatility lubricating oil basestocks
This disclosure provides low viscosity, low volatility alkylated siloxane compounds and alkylated alkoxy silane compounds. This disclosure also provides processes for producing the alkylated siloxane compounds and alkylated alkoxy silane compounds, and lubricating oil basestocks and lubricating oils containing one or more of the alkylated siloxane compounds or one or more of the alkylated alkoxy silane compounds. This disclosure further provides a method for improving one or more of solubility and dispersancy of polar additives and/or sludge in a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil containing one or more of the alkylated siloxane compounds or one or more of the alkylated alkoxy silane compounds.

The object of the present invention is to attain water repellency as well as the heat resistance and the light resistance. the transparent film of the present invention comprises: a polysiloxane backbone; and a trialkylsilyl containing molecular chain bonded to a part of silicon atoms forming the polysiloxane backbone, wherein alkyl groups in the trialkylsilyl containing molecular chain may be replaced by fluoroalkyl groups, and the transparent film satisfies at least one of the relationships of:
(B.sub.H−A.sub.0)/A.sub.0×100(%)≧−27(%); and
(B.sub.L−A.sub.0)/A.sub.0×100(%)≧−15(%), provided that A.sub.0 is an initial contact angle of a liquid droplet on the transparent film, B.sub.H is a contact angle of a liquid droplet on the transparent film incubated at 200° C. for 24 hours, and B.sub.L is a contact angle of a liquid droplet on the transparent film irradiated by a xenon lamp with an intensity of 250 W for 100 hours.
Silicon-based tetrahydrocannabinol derivatives and compositions thereof
Silicon-based tetrahydrocannabinol derivatives and methods for their synthesis are provided, in which the derivatives contain a tetrahydrocannabinol molecule and at least one silicon-based group containing Si—O—Si bonds. The derivatives are useful in topical and dermatological compositions, have potential beneficial topical properties, and enhance solubility and compatibility in topical and dermatological formulations containing the silicon-based materials.

The invention relates to novel quaternary amino alcohol functional organosilicon compounds, aqueous compositions containing the latter, and a method for their production, in particular in the form of oligomers and polymers which can be present in the partially or fully hydrolyzed form and are in particular water-soluble. The compositions comprise only an extremely small portion of VOCs. The invention further relates to their use, preferably in the production of inkjet photographic papers.
