Accelerated patency magnamosis
A system is configured to bring about anastomosis between two lumens in a patient or between two sections of a single lumen in a patient. The anastomosis system includes a first tissue-compressing element, a second tissue-compressing element, and an energy source. The energy source can be a thermal energy source or laser energy source. Tissue is interposed between the elements. Magnetic material incorporated into the tissue-compressing elements facilitates the alignment of the elements as well as compression of the interposed tissue. The energy source can deliver energy to tissue. This delivery of energy can cause local changes to the tissue that can help maintain positional stability of the implants, can bring about immediate patency of the anastomosis and can otherwise facilitate achieving desired outcomes for the patient.
Systems and methods for percutaneous access, formation, and maintenance of arteriovenous fistulas
Methods for creating and maintaining an anastomosis between two adjacent blood vessels using percutaneous techniques, for use in hemodialysis procedures are disclosed and described.
Electrosurgical forceps and method of manufacturing the same
A method for manufacturing a jaw assembly configured for use with an electrosurgical forceps is provided. A seal plate with an inwardly facing tab member extending along a peripheral edge thereof is formed. A cavity defined along the inwardly facing tab member of the seal plate is formed. Subsequently, the seal plate is overmolded to a jaw housing. The cavity is configured to receive an insulative substrate therein to facilitate securing the seal plate to the jaw housing.
CATHETER WITH IMPROVED TEMPERATURE RESPONSE
A medical probe, consisting of an insertion tube having a distal end configured for insertion into a body of a patient and containing a lumen having an electrical conductor for conveying electrical energy. The probe also has a conductive cap attached to the distal end of the insertion tube and coupled electrically to the electrical conductor, the cap including a side wall having multiple longitudinal bores therein. There are a plurality of thermocouples disposed in respective ones of the longitudinal bores, and an electrically conductive cement at least partially fills the longitudinal bores so as to secure the thermocouples in the bores while making electrically conductive contact between the thermocouples and the conductive cap.
Planar ferromagnetic coated surgical tip and method for making
The present invention relates to surgical dissection tips comprising a substrate comprising beryllium copper and a ferromagnetic layer coating at least a portion of the substrate, and methods of making such surgical dissection tips.
Wireless pairing of a surgical device with another device within a sterile surgical field based on the usage and situational awareness of devices
A surgical system includes a first surgical device comprising a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to be situationally aware of events occurring within the vicinity of the first surgical device according to data received from a database, a patient monitoring device, or a paired surgical device, or any combination of a database, patient monitoring device, or paired surgical device. The control circuit is configured to be wirelessly paired with a second surgical device according to usage of the first surgical device and the events of which the first surgical device is situationally aware.
Cauterization Device for Sealing Pleural Layers
A cauterization device includes a handpiece configured to be grasped by a user. The handpiece includes a housing, a heat control circuit, and a control switch. A cannula has a cannula lumen, a cannula side wall surrounding the cannula lumen, a cannula proximal end portion, and a cannula distal end. The cannula proximal end portion is coupled to the housing of the handpiece. A stylet has a shaft portion and a distal heat conductive body. The distal heat conductive body is electrically coupled to the heat control circuit. The distal heat conductive body has a first end and a tapered portion that distally terminates at a second end. The shaft portion is located, at least in part, in the cannula lumen. The insulator member is configured to thermally separate the cannula distal end from the distal heat conductive body of the stylet.
RENAL NERVE DENERVATION VIA THE RENAL PELVIS
Apparatus, systems, and methods provide access to the renal pelvis of a kidney to treat renal nerves embedded in tissue surrounding the renal pelvis. Access to the renal pelvis may be via the urinary tract or via minimally invasive incisions through the abdomen and kidney tissue. Treatment is effected by exchanging energy, typically delivering heat or extracting heat through a wall of the renal pelvis, or by delivering active substances.
Methods for cancer treatment
Residual, refractory or relapsed cancer is treated by immunostimulation in the presence of allogeneic immune effector cells, optimally in combination with radiation therapy. The methods of the disclosure induce a systemic allogeneic anti-tumor immune response that results in tumor regression in untreated sites of disease, i.e. non-injected, non-irradiated, etc.
