Methods and devices for treating pelvic conditions
An ablation instrument comprises an elongate shaft having a cannula channel and a scope channel, and an electrode disposed in the cannula channel. The electrode is slidable between a first position in which a distal end of the electrode is contained within the cannula channel, and a second position in which the distal end of the electrode extends out of a distal opening of the cannula channel. The ablation instrument further comprises a distal head coupled to the elongate shaft and configured for engaging tissue.
Enhanced ablation and visualization techniques for percutaneous surgical procedures
A medical instrument for enhancing diagnosis and treatment comprising a handle, an ablation probe extending from the handle, a catheter extending from the handle. The catheter defines a lumen and the ablation probe is located within the lumen of the catheter. A port in fluid communication with the lumen of the catheter is configured for connection to a vacuum or fluid source, and application of a vacuum or an injection of fluid creates a consistent zone of permittivity around the ablation probe.
ELECTROSURGICAL APPARATUS FOR TREATING BIOLOGICAL TISSUE WITH MICROWAVE ENERGY
Various embodiments provide an electrosurgical apparatus for treating biological tissue with microwave energy. The apparatus comprises: a microwave energy signal generator for generating a microwave energy waveform; an electrosurgical instrument arranged to deliver the microwave energy waveform from a distal end thereof for tissue treatment; and a controller in communication with the microwave energy signal generator. The microwave energy signal generator is configured to deliver the microwave energy waveform as one microwave energy signal pulse. The controller is configured to control the profile of the one microwave energy signal pulse to cause ablation or coagulation of the biological tissue and to substantially prevent the one pulse from causing heat to build-up in the electrosurgical instrument.
INTRODUCER FOR ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
Various embodiments provide an introducer for introducing an electrosurgical instrument into a body of a patient. The introducer comprises: a tubular member defining a lumen through which the electrosurgical instrument is insertable; and a cooling assembly configured to remove heat from the tubular member. Other embodiments provide an electrosurgical system comprising an electrosurgical instrument and an introducer.
Pediatric nasal endoscope, gastroscope and aerodigestive scope
TNE provides the opportunity to make the care of children with EoE and other gastrointestinal or aerodigestive conditions safer, more efficient, and less costly while simultaneously advancing our understanding of the pathophysiology and natural course of this condition. A pediatric endoscope was developed to facilitate TNE in children with EoE. The pediatric endoscope (combined gastroscope, bronchoscope, laryngoscope) includes a 3-4 mm flexible, fiber optic endoscope that allows HD TV viewing with the head of a pediatric bronchoscope that allows four way tip deflection, a scope stiffening apparatus to minimize the endoscopes flexibility when needed, a foot and hand activation to allow air/water insufflation and image/video capture, a light source, 2 mm biopsy channel.
Multi-carrier ablation generator
A multicarrier ablation system comprising: an antenna for application to biological tissue; a multi-carrier signal generator configured to provide a forward radio frequency (RF) signal to the antenna, the forward RF signal comprising multiple subcarriers that occupy respective frequencies within a bandwidth of the RF signal; and a monitoring circuit configured to receive a reflected RF signal from the antenna and control the multi-carrier signal generator to adjust one or more parameters of the forward RF signal during an ablation procedure based on the reflected RF signal.
Delivery device with coaxial cable, apparatus comprising said device and method
The device includes an outer conductor and an inner conductor arranged approximately coaxial with each other. The outer conductor surrounds the inner conductor. The outer conductor and the inner conductor are arranged and configured to generate an electromagnetic field with lines of force extending from a front surface of the inner conductor to a front surface of the outer conductor. The device further includes an energy delivery window arranged in front of the outer conductor and the inner conductor.
ELECTRICITY SUPPLIER
A power supply device in which a device shaft provided with a power receiver is inserted in a through-hole of a port site, which is capable of supplying electric power to the power receiver at a low cost and enabling fine operation of the device shaft. The power supply includes a port site; first terminals provided on an inner surface of the through-hole; wires that connect the first terminals and a power source; a device shaft that is insertable into the through-hole; a power receiver provided on the device shaft; second terminals provided on an outer surface of the device shaft; and wires that connect the power receiver and the second terminals. Electric power from the power supply can be supplied to the power receiver by inserting the device shaft into the through-hole to thereby bring the first terminals and the second terminals into contact with each other.
Microwave antenna probes
A surgical probe includes a connection hub, an antenna assembly, and an outer jacket. The antenna assembly is coupled to the connection hub, extends distally from the connection hub, and includes a radiating portion coupled thereto at the distal end thereof. The radiating portion is configured to deliver energy to tissue to treat tissue. The outer jacket is coupled to the connection hub, extends distally therefrom, and is disposed about the radiating portion. The outer jacket includes a distal end member configured to be spaced-apart from the radiating portion a target axial distance. One or more of the couplings between the antenna assembly and the connection hub, the radiating portion and the antenna assembly, and the outer jacket and the connection hub defines a flexible configuration permitting axial movement therebetween to maintain the target axial distance between the radiating portion and the distal end member.
Medical imaging system and method
A medical imaging system comprising: a microwave antenna array comprising a transmitting antenna and a plurality of receiving antennae, wherein the transmitting antenna is configured to transmit microwave signals so as to illuminate a body part of a patient and the receiving antennae are configured to receive the microwave signals following scattering within the body part; a processor configured to process the scattered microwave signals and generate an output indicative of the internal structure of the body part to identify a target within the body part; and an ablation probe comprising an ablation needle movable relative to the microwave antenna array; wherein the receiving antennae are further configured to receive microwave signals scattered or emitted by the ablation needle and the processor is further configured to monitor a position of the ablation needle and to guide the ablation needle to the identified target within the body part which it can be used to perform an ablation procedure.
