Method for monitoring object flow within a surgical space during a surgery

One variation of a method for tracking objects within a surgical space during a surgery includes: based on a first image depicting the surgical space at a first time, detecting a first object and a constellation of objects in the surgical space, estimating distances from each object—in the constellation of objects—to the first object, and calculating a contamination risk of the first object based on contamination scores and distances to the first object for each object in the constellation of objects; calculating a contamination score of the first object based on a combination of the contamination risks of the first object during the surgery; and, in response to the contamination score of the first object exceeding a threshold contamination score prior to contact between the first object and a patient, serving a prompt within the surgical space to address sterility of the first object.

A system for sizing an implant for a patient pre-operatively comprises a processor unit. A non-transitory computer-readable memory may be communicatively coupled to the processing unit and comprising computer-readable program instructions executable by the processing unit for obtaining at least one radiographic patient image of at least one patient bone with a scale marker relative to the bone, the scale marker having a known geometry, setting a scale of the at least one radiographic patient image using the known geometry of the scale marker, generating a three-dimensional bone model representative of the at least one patient bone using the at least one radiographic patient image and the scale, identifying an implant size and/or an implant model using implant models and dimensions of the three-dimensional bone model based on said scale, and outputting the implant size and/or the implant model for the patient.

Robotic surgical inventory management

A supply tray for a surgical procedure is selected based on the surgical procedure and patient data retrieved from an electronic health records database. Multiple steps of the surgical procedure are retrieved from the electronic health records database. A message is sent to a first manipulator to move a supply from the supply tray to a staging area for performing a step. A first indication is received from a first sensor that the supply is needed at a present time. A position where the supply is needed in an operating area proximate to the staging area is determined using a second sensor. A second message is sent to a second manipulator to move the supply from the staging area to the position. A second indication is received from a third sensor that the step is complete. A third message is sent to a third manipulator to remove the supply.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SELECTING, ACTIVATING, OR SELECTING AND ACTIVATING TRANSDUCERS

Transducer-based systems can be configured to display a graphical representation of a transducer-based device, the graphical representation including graphical elements corresponding to transducers of the transducer-based device, and also including between graphical elements respectively associated with a set of the transducers and respectively associated with a region of space between the transducers of the transducer-based device. Selection of graphical elements and/or between graphical elements can cause activation of the set of transducers associated with the selected elements. Selection of a plurality of graphical elements and/or between graphical elements can cause visual display of a corresponding activation path in the graphical representation. Visual characteristics of graphical elements and between graphical elements can change based on an activation-status of the corresponding transducers. Activation requests for a set of transducers can be denied if it is determined that a transducer in the set of transducers is unacceptable for activation.

System and method for intraoperative surgical planning

The subject matter includes systems, methods, and prosthetic devices for joint reconstruction surgery. A computer-assisted intraoperating planning method can include accessing a first medical image providing a first view of a joint within a surgical site as well as receiving selection of a first component of a modular prosthetic device implanted in the first bone of the joint. The method continues by displaying a graphical representation of the first component of the modular prosthetic device overlaid on the first medical image, and updating a graphical representation of the first component based on receiving positioning inputs representative of an implant location of the first component relative to landmarks on the first bone visible within the first medical image. The method concludes by presenting a selection interface enabling visualization of additional components of the modular prosthetic device virtually connected to the first component and overlaid on the first medical image.

There is provided a medical observation apparatus including: a determination unit which determines an apparatus to be used based on a captured image for medical use captured by an imaging device; and a display control unit which causes a related image for medical use corresponding to the determined apparatus and the captured image for medical use to be displayed.

Optical camera positioning tool

A system and method may be used to position or orient a camera within a surgical field. A method may include generating a graphical user interface including a first set of instructions to reposition the camera, and determining whether the camera is within a target volume location. The method may include automatically outputting an indication when the camera is within the target volume location. The method may include outputting a second set of instructions for display on the graphical user interface to align a laser, coupled to or integrated into the camera, to the tracker by changing an angle of the camera.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING WRONG-SITE SURGERIES
20230035015 · 2023-02-02 ·

A container holds at least one surgical implement, has a lock mechanism, and has a signature label that impedes access to the surgical implement until the correct surgical site is confirmed. A method of using the container includes the steps of confirming the correct surgical site, signing the label and removing it from the container, placing the label in the medical record, unlocking the container, removing the implement, and beginning the surgery, wherein the surgical team is forced to pause to confirm the correct surgical site before starting the surgery. The system and method may also include a wrong site surgery profile used by individuals within the surgical procedure environment and third parties for tracking and determining if, and where, a wrong site surgical procedure occurred. The profile can be updated, tacked and monitored while a patient is interacting within the medical environment.

INTRAOPERATIVE IMAGE-GUIDED TOOLS FOR OPHTHALMIC SURGERY

An image-guided tool and method for ophthalmic surgical procedures is disclosed comprising a processor, a display, an imaging system, and a memory communicatively coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor and includes an artificial intelligence (AI) model. The processor is arranged to receive from the imaging system visual images in real-time of a surgical field during the ophthalmic surgical procedure and using the AI model to extract regions of interest in the surgical field. Upon selection of a region of interest by the AI model, the AI model develops operating image features based on the surgical instruments used in the region of interest and the phase of the surgical procedure being performed. Augmented visual images are then constructed that include the real-time visual image and the image features and surgical phase information. The augmented image is displayed on the display.

A passive image guide is fixed with vertebral tissue and is disposed relative to the sensor to communicate a signal representative of a position of the passive image guide. The passive image guide includes a first surface. A second surgical instrument is connectable with the first surgical instrument and includes a second surface engageable with the first surface in a mating configuration to provide verification of the selected configuration. Surgical instruments, implants, spinal constructs and methods are disclosed.
