The thermoplastic resin is prepared from raw materials including at least one of a carbonic acid diester compound or a dicarboxylic acid compound and a dihydroxy compound. By making the content of specific triptycene framework compounds in the raw materials lower than a certain specific value, a thermoplastic resin with excellent optical performance, low fluidity and yellowness is prepared.
