A waterborne poly(alkynyl carbamate) prepolymer is provided which comprises a reaction product of a polyisocyanate comprising a first portion and a second portion of isocyanate groups; an isocyanate-reactive component comprising 0.1 mol % to 6 mol % of a C.sub.10-C.sub.50 glycol ether; and 99.9 mol % to 94 mol % of an alkynol, wherein the mol % is based on the moles of isocyanate in the polyisocyanate, wherein the first portion of isocyanate groups reacts with the C.sub.10-C.sub.50 glycol ether, wherein the second portion of isocyanate groups reacts with the alkynol, and wherein reaction occurs optionally in the presence of a catalyst. The reaction of long chain glycol ethers with the polyisocyanate at a level of from 0.1 mol % to 6 mol % imparts water dispersibility to the prepolymer, and when the prepolymer is dispersed in water, the performance of waterborne alternative polyurethane compositions made therefrom, such as coatings, adhesives, sealants, films, elastomers, castings, foams, and composites, are not compromised. The invention allows for the use of water as a carrier, thus eliminating the need for organic solvents.

A polycarbodiimide compound derived from an aliphatic diisocyanate compound having at least one primary isocyanate group, the polycarbodiimide compound having a structure in which all ends are capped with an organic compound having a functional group that reacts with an isocyanate group, carbodiimide group concentration A (%) and weight average molecular weight Mw satisfying the following formula (1), and a resin composition comprising the carbodiimide compound and an aqueous resin having a predetermined acid value at a predetermined ratio.

CARDANOL BLOCKED ISOCYANATE ADHESION PROMOTOR FOR PVC PLASTISOL

The present invention relates to a PVC plastisol composition comprising at least one vinyl chloride polymer selected from polyvinylchlorides and copolymers of vinyl chloride with one or more monomers; at least one plasticizer; at least one epoxy resin; and at least one isocyanate resin blocked with cardanol. The PVC plastisol composition of this invention provides strong adhesion to the surface of various metals or various undercoats of metals by thermal treatment for a short time at 100 C-200 C. and is excellent in storage stability. In addition, it offers good rheological properties with improved yield value dosing and viscosity stability during applications compared to the nonylphenol blocked isocyanate PVC adhesion promotor.

The present invention discloses a water-washable UV-curable resin and preparation method thereof, solving the problems of the existing water-washable, photo-curable resin when removing the excess resin. The present invention includes the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1-10 parts of Poly[oxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)] ether glycol, 1-10 parts of Poly(propylene glycol), 5-10 parts of Isophorone diisocyanate, 0.5-2 parts of Dibutyltin dilaurate, 2-5 parts of 2,2-Bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid, 2-5 parts of Hydroxyethyl Acrylate, 0.1-0.2 parts of 4-Methoxyphenol, 2-5 parts of 2,2-dimethyl trimethylene cyclic carbonate, 2-7 parts of Nano magnesium hydroxide, 1-10 parts of photoinitiator, 10-30 parts of Glycerol 1,3-dimethacrylate, and 10-30 parts of Hexanediol diacrylate. The final product of present invention is of excellent hydrophilicity and mechanical properties, furthermore, it is short in curing time, good in solvent resistance, environmental friendly and easy to clean.

A hydroxy functional alkyl carbamate is disclosed having the formula: ##STR00001##
wherein R comprises a substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 to C.sub.36 alkyl group, an aromatic group, and/or a polymeric moiety; wherein each R.sub.1 is independently a hydrogen, alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R.sub.1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and n is 2-6. The present invention is also directed to a composition, and substrates coated therewith, comprising a film-forming resin; and a hydroxy functional alkyl carbamate crosslinker having the formula shown above. Other hydroxy functional alkyl carbamate compounds, polymers made with the same, and compositions comprising the same are also disclosed as are substrates coated at least in part with or formed with any of the compositions described herein.
