Use of compounds having n 2-oxo-1,3-dioxolane-4-carboxamide units in two-component adhesives

A description is given of the use of compounds having n 2-oxo-1,3-dioxolane-4-carboxamide units as a reactive component in 2-component adhesives, especially for preparing hydroxypolyurethanes or hydroxypolycarbonates for adhesives applications, where n is a number greater than or equal to 2. A description is also given of corresponding two-component adhesives and adhesive bonding methods. Employed preferably as a second component of the two-component adhesive is a polyfunctional curing agent compound which is preferably selected from polyamines which have two or more amine groups and polyols which have two or more alcoholic hydroxyl groups.

Radiation curable aqueous compositions

Radiation curable aqueous compositions (I) with reduced photo-yellowing are provided. Said composition comprises water, at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound and at least one carboxylic acid hydrazide-containing compound (H) in an amount sufficient to reduce photo-yellowing. Materials of the invention have the advantage that they help to reduce photo-yellowing. They may have a beneficial effect on long term yellowing caused by weathering too. Compositions (I) of the invention allow a better quality control of products and materials just after cure. Materials of the invention can be used to make coatings, inks, paints, varnishes and adhesives and they are further suitable for the making of composites, gel coats, 3D-curing and the making of 3D-objects in general.

AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITIONS BASED ON SELF-CROSSLINKING POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS

The present invention is drawn to an aqueous polyurethane dispersion comprising: —anionic polyurethane particles comprising both free pending carboxylate groups of formula —COO.sup.−M.sup.+ where M.sup.+ is a cation resulting from neutralization of carboxylic acid groups with a base, and pending carboxylate ester groups resulting from esterification of free carboxylic acid groups with an epoxysilane, —crosslinking particles made of water-insoluble transition metal compounds. It is also drawn to a method of coating a substrate comprising applying such an aqueous polyurethane dispersion onto a substrate and letting it dry, preferably without applying any heat or radiation.
