Modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer, and dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization
An object of the present invention is to provide a dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization which satisfies various performance requirements for suspension polymerization of a vinyl-based compound such as vinyl chloride. The present invention relates a modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer having at least one monomer unit represented by a following general formula (I) and a modification rate of from 0.01 mol % to 10 mol %: general formula (1) ##STR00001##

SELF-SUPPORTING HYDROGEL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A polymer/nanoparticle composite hydrogel can be produced from an industrially readily available general-purpose material and has excellent mechanical and stretching properties. A hydrogel and a method for producing the same, the hydrogel having a self-supporting property and including a silicate salt (A), a polyalkylene glycol (B), and a dispersant (C) for the silicate salt, the hydrogel being characterized in that: the polyalkylene glycol (B) has a weight average molecular weight, number average molecular weight, or viscosity average molecular weight of 500,000 to 20,000,000; and the amount by mass of the polyalkylene glycol (B) is more than 2% by mass and 20% by mass or less relative to 100% by mass of the hydrogel.

The invention relates to a curable composition comprising a) at least one polymer having at least one terminal group of the general formula (I)

wherein A is a divalent bonding group containing at least one heteroatom, R is selected from divalent hydrocarbon residues having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, X, Y, Z are, independently of one another, selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group and C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkoxy, and C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 acyloxy groups, wherein X, Y, Z are substituents directly bound with the Si atom or the two of the substituents X, Y, Z form a ring together with the Si atom to which they are bound, and at least one of the substituents X, Y, Z is selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group, C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkoxy or C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 acyloxy groups, and n is 0 or 1; and b) at least one compound of the general formula (II) ##STR00001##
