METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR CLARIFYING PRODUCED WATERS FOR BOILER FEED WATERS
Disclosed are methods and compositions for coagulating and clarifying produced waters for use as boiler feed waters, for example for the generation of steam. The methods and compositions are especially useful for treatment of produced waters from steam-injection methods of tertiary oil recovery such as steam-assisted gravitational drainage. Disclosed are compositions comprising a first copolymer having a high molecular weight and bearing a low molar cationic charge and a second copolymer having a lower molecular weight and bearing a high molar cationic charge. The compositions are suitable for addition as coagulants to produced waters that have been treated by warm lime softening. Also disclosed are methods of treating produced waters from steam-injection oil recovery for use as boiler feed waters to generate steam in such steam injection methods.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A WATER-SOLUBLE THERMALLY-CROSSLINKABLE POLYMERIC MATERIAL
The invention is related to a cost-effective method for producing water-soluble thermally-crosslinkable hydrophilic polymeric materials. Resultant materials can find particular use in preparing a packaging solution used for packaging and autoclaving medical devices, especially contact lenses. Those packaging solutions are especially suitable for forming a relatively-thick and soft hydrogel coatings on contact lenses or medical devices according to an in-package-crosslinking (IPC) processes. The resultant non-silicone hydrogel coatings can have a superior lubricity (a friction rating of 0) with minimized or no surface cracking.
Functionalized Polyamines For Clay Mitigation
The present invention provides methods and compositions for treating clay-bearing aggregates, particularly those used for construction purposes, whereby inclusion of fines is maximized due to minimization of clay washing which tends to remove such fines, and whereby performance of the aggregate-containing construction material is enhanced. Exemplary methods comprise introducing to clay a water-soluble, functionalized polyamine comprising a water-soluble polyamine formed by reacting an amine compound with an epoxy compound, the polyamine thus reacted being functionalized through the use of certain halide, sulfate, or epoxy compounds.
Poly(oxazoline-co-ethyleneimine)-epichlorohydrin copolymers and uses thereof
The invention is related to poly(2-oxazoline-co-ethyleneimine)-epichlorohydrin copolymers and chemically-modified derivatives thereof as well as their uses in formation of non-silicone hydrogel coatings on silicone hydrogel contact lenses.
Polymer stabilizers for bituminous emulsions
A mineral-compatible cationic emulsion composition with polymer stabilizers, and methods for utilizing same in paving and other applications is disclosed. In one aspect, a bitumen-in-water emulsion composition includes at least one bitumen material, at least one polymer stabilizer, at least one emulsifier, and water, where the emulsifier is a cationic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant, or a mixture of both, and the polymer stabilizer is a natural or synthetic cationic polymer consisting of alkylene polyamines, alkyl polyamines, polyquaternary polymers, polyvinylamine, polyvinylimidazoline, polyester polyquaternary polymers, polyether polyquaternary polymers, or mixtures thereof. The inclusion of polymer stabilizer in the cationic emulsion increases the stability of the emulsion and increases the compatibility of the cationic emulsion with negatively charged minerals.
Ligand functionalized polymers
Ligand functionalized substrates, methods of making ligand functionalized substrates, and methods of using functionalized substrates are disclosed.
GRAFT COPOLYMER FUNCTIONALIZED ARTICLE
Guanidinyl ligand-functionalized polymers, methods of making the same, and substrates bearing a grafted coating of the ligand-functional polymers are described. The grafted polymer has the requisite affinity for binding neutral or negatively charged biomaterials, such as cells, cell debris, bacteria, spores, viruses, nucleic acids, endotoxins and proteins, at pH's near or below the pI's of the biomaterials.
Functionalized cationic polyamines and their use to reduce the NDMA formation during the treatment of aqueous systems, and applications in the water treatment industry, including wastewater and drinking water treatment processes
New water treatment chemicals and corresponding water treatment or more generally aqueous systems treatment processes are provided, which greatly attenuate the NDMA problem, that is, decrease the formation of NDMA during the water or aqueous system treatment namely in the presence of a disinfectant, and decrease too the level of NDMA in the so treated water of aqueous system, and in the end products such as drinking water.
