Triazine ring-containing polymer, and composition for film formation use containing same
A triazine ring-containing polymer which contains a repeating unit structure represented by, for example, formula [4] has a high refractive index and also has excellent solubility in various organic solvents including low-polarity solvents, hydrophobic solvents and low-boiling point solvents. A thin film having a high refractive index and excellent transparency can be formed using a composition for film formation use which contains the polymer. ##STR00001##
Microfluidic flow process for making monomers
The present invention relates to a microfluidic flow process for making monomers, monomers made by such processes, and methods of using such monomers. In such process, microfluidic reaction technology is used to synthesize cyanation reaction products orders of magnitude faster than is possible in batch and continuous syntheses. The aforementioned process does require strictly regulated, highly toxic cyanogen chloride. Thus the aforementioned process is more economically efficient and reduces the environmental impact of thermosetting resin monomer production, and produces thermosetting resin monomers in greater purity than obtained through typical processes.
THERMOSETTING RESIN COMPOSITION
An object of the present invention is to provide a cyanate ester-based curable resin composition having a high curing rate, very high heat resistance and very high long-term heat resistance, and a molded article and a prepreg each using the same. The present invention relates to a thermosetting resin composition including (A) a cyanate ester compound and/or (B) an unsaturated imide compound, and (C) a cyclic carbodiimide compound. In addition, the present invention relates to a molded article including a cured product of the thermosetting resin composition, and a prepreg including a reinforcing fiber substrate impregnated with the thermosetting resin composition.
REVERSIBLE AMINAL GEL COMPOSITIONS, METHODS, AND USE
A well treatment composition for use in a hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir comprising a reversible aminal gel composition is disclosed. The reversible aminal gel composition includes a liquid precursor composition. The liquid precursor composition is operable to remain in a liquid state at about room temperature. The liquid precursor composition comprises an organic amine composition; an aldehyde composition; and a polar aprotic organic solvent. The liquid precursor composition transitions from the liquid state to a gel state responsive to an increase in temperature in the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir. The gel state is stable in the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir at a temperature similar to a temperature of the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir, and the gel state is operable to return to the liquid state responsive to a change in the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir selected from the group consisting of: a decrease in pH in the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir and an addition of excess metal salt composition in the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir.
High-temperature resistant modified silicon-containing cyanate ester resin as well as preparation method and application thereof
The present invention relates to a high-temperature resistant modified silicon-containing cyanate ester resin as well as a preparation method and an application thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: adding a mixed solution of hydroxyl silicone oil, a silane coupling agent and an organic solvent into a mixed solution of a tetramethylammonium hydroxide aqueous solution and a polar solvent, performing hydrolytic polycondensation at a temperature of 5-40 C. for 4-8 h, and performing distillation to obtain an epoxy-containing silsesquioxane; performing pre-polymerization on the epoxy-containing silsesquioxane and a cyanate ester resin at a temperature of 50-100 C. for 1-8 h to obtain a modified cyanate ester resin; and uniformly mixing the modified cyanate ester resin and a modified anhydride, thereby obtaining the high-temperature resistant modified silicon-containing cyanate ester resin.
Low melting and low viscosity thermoset matrix resins from the Z configuration of polyhydroxy stilbenes
The invention generally relates to novel poly-substituted cis stilbenes, their synthesis, their purification, and their use in thermoset resins. These novel cis stilbenes give rise to thermoset resins with greatly improved processing characteristics such as lower melting temperature and lower viscosity; resulting in polymers and composites having greatly improved thermal stability.
Alternative resin systems for thermal protection materials
Thermal protective materials suitable for use in a spacecraft include a substrate, such as carbon fibers or carbon felt, and cyanate ester resin or phthalonitrile resin, and cross-linkers. These thermal protective materials have a density of about 0.2 to about 0.35 g/cm.sup.3. Methods of making the thermal protective materials include mixing a cyanate ester resin or a phthalonitrile resin and a cross-linker to result in a resin solution, infusing the resin solution into a substrate, and curing the resin to result in the thermal protective material.
