LITHIUM ALKYLSILICONATE COMPOSITION, COATING, AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A method of making a lithium alkylsiliconate composition comprising adding an alkylalkoxysilane to a first mixture comprising lithium hydroxide and water to form a second mixture comprising a lithium alkylsiliconate and an alcohol, wherein i) the mole ratio of lithium hydroxide to alkylalkoxysilane is from 0.9 to less than 1.1 and the water is from 89 to 93 mol %, or ii) the mole ratio of lithium hydroxide to alkylalkoxysilane is from 1.1 to 1.4 and the water is from greater than 93 to 99 mole %.
METAL-POLYORGANOSILOXANES
Metal-polyorganosiloxane materials, methods of making and using them, and manufactured articles and devices containing them are disclosed. The metal-polyorganosiloxane materials have improved thermal stability and comprises a metal-polyorganosiloxane mixture that is free of condensation-curable polyorganosiloxane and solid particles other than metal particles and ceramic particles, the metal-organosiloxane mixture otherwise comprising: (A) a polyorganosiloxane that is free of silicon-bonded organoheteryl groups; (B) a hydrocarbylene-based multipodal silane; and (C) metal particles.
METAL-POLYORGANOSILOXANES
Metal-polyorganosiloxane materials, methods of making and using them, and manufactured articles and devices containing them are disclosed. The metal-polyorganosiloxane materials have improved thermal stability and comprises a metal-polyorganosiloxane mixture that is free of condensation-curable polyorganosiloxane and solid particles other than metal particles and ceramic particles, the metal-organosiloxane mixture otherwise comprising: (A) a polyorganosiloxane that is free of silicon-bonded organoheteryl groups; (B) a hydrocarbylene-based multipodal silane; and (C) metal particles.
Sol-gel based matrix
The present invention relates to a method for the production of a sol-gel based matrix. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing a first alkoxysilane of the general formula: R.sup.1Si(OR.sup.2).sub.3 and a second alkoxysilane of the general formula (I): b) preparing a first sol-gel component by polymerization of the first alkoxysilane in the presence of an acid catalyst, c) preparing a second sol-gel component by polymerization of the second alkoxysilane in the presence of an Lewis acid catalyst, d) Mixing the first sol-gel component and the second sol-gel component for the preparation of a sol-gel based matrix. The above method results in a sol-gel based matrix with high stability and high porosity. The sol-gel based material may be used for the production of a composite or sensor suitable for monitoring analytes. Methods for preparing these composites or sensors are provided as well.
