LAMINATED FILM, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME, AND POLARIZING PLATE
A layered film includes first, second, and third layers formed of first, second, and third resins, respectively, and provided in this order. The second resin contains an alkoxysilyl group-modified product of a hydrogenated product of a block copolymer; has 0.020% by weight or less of a moisture content as measured by the Karl-Fischer method after immersed in water at 37 C. for 24 hours and then allowed to stand at 23 C. and a humidity of 70% for 24 hours; and has a flexural modulus lower than flexural moduli of the first and third resins. One or both of the first and third resins contain a polymer containing an alicyclic structure. The first resin has a specific water vapor transmission rate. A ratio of a sum of thicknesses of the first and third layers relative to a thickness of the second layer is in a specific range.
FILM FOR CAPACITOR AND METHOD OF PRODUCING SAME

The film for a capacitor contains a hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene ring-opened polymer that is crystalline and has a heat shrinkage ratio of not less than 0.01% and not more than 1.0% when heated at 200 C. for 10 minutes, a plane orientation factor of 0.01 or more, a density of 1.0310.sup.6 g/m.sup.3 or more, and a thickness of 15.0 m or less.
TWO COMPONENT MASS POLYMERIZABLE COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING POLYCYCLOOLEFIN MONOMERS AND ORGANORUTHENIUM CARBIDE PRECATALYST
Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass a two component composition containing in one component a latent organo-ruthenium carbide catalyst, and in another component a photoactive acid generator or a thermally active acid generator, and either of the components containing a mixture of photoactive compound along with one or more monomers which undergo ring open metathesis polymerization (ROMP) when said components are mixed together and exposed to a suitable radiation (or heat) to form a three-dimensional (3D) object. The three-dimensional objects so formed exhibits improved mechanical properties, particularly, high heat distortion temperature, impact strength, elongation to break, among others. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful as 3D inkjet materials for forming high impact strength objects of various sizes with microscale features lower than 100 microns, among various other uses.
SINGLE COMPONENT MASS POLYMERIZABLE COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING POLYCYCLOOLEFIN MONOMERS AND ORGANORUTHENIUM CARBIDE PRECATALYST
Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass compositions containing a latent organo-ruthenium carbide catalyst, a photoactive acid generator or a thermally active acid generator and a photoactive compound along with one or more monomers which undergo ring open metathesis polymerization (ROMP) when said composition is exposed to a suitable radiation (or heat) to form a three-dimensional (3D) object. The three-dimensional objects made by this process exhibits improved mechanical properties, particularly, high distortion temperature, impact strength, elongation to break, among others. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful as 3D inkjet materials for forming high impact strength objects of various sizes with microscale features lower than 100 microns, among various other uses.
MODIFIED RESINS AND USES THEREOF
Modified thermoplastic hydrocarbon thermoplastic resins are provided, as well as methods of their manufacture and uses thereof in rubber compositions. The modified thermoplastic resins are modified by decreasing the relative quantity of the dimer, trimer, tetramer, and pentamer oligomers as compared to the corresponding unmodified thermoplastic resin polymers, resulting in a product that exhibits a greater shift in the glass transition temperature of the elastomer(s) used in tire formulations. This translates to better viscoelastic predictors of tire tread performance, such as wet grip and rolling resistance. The modified thermoplastic resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the modified thermoplastic resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, snow performance, and wet braking performance.
Adhesion promoter compositions for cyclic olefin resin compositions
This invention relates to compositions and methods for improving the adhesion of resin compositions to substrate materials. More particularly, the invention relates to compositions and methods for improving the adhesion of ROMP compositions to substrate materials using an adhesion promoter composition, where the adhesion promoter composition comprises a pre-reacted mixture comprising at least one compound containing at least two isocyanate groups and at least one compound comprising a heteroatom-containing functional group and a metathesis active olefin, where the adhesion promoter composition is storage stable and/or possesses in-resin storage stability when added to a resin composition, particularly a cyclic olefin resin composition, such as a ROMP composition. The polymer products produced via ROMP reactions of the invention may be utilized for a wide range of materials and composite applications. The invention has utility in the fields of polymer and materials chemistry and manufacture.
Metathesis polymerization methods
The present disclosure is directed to methods of making a polymer, including exposing a reaction mixture including a strained cyclic unsaturated monomer and an organic initiator to a stimulus to provide an activated organic initiator, whereby the activated organic initiator is effective to polymerize the strained cyclic unsaturated monomer via a 4-membered carbocyclic intermediate to provide a polymer having constitutional units derived from the strained cyclic unsaturated monomer.
