POROUS DEVICES AND PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING SAME
Devices and methods for making a polymer with a porous layer from a solid piece of polymer are disclosed. In various embodiments, the method includes heating a surface of a solid piece of polymer to a processing temperature and holding the processing temperature while displacing a porogen layer through the surface of the polymer to create a matrix layer of the solid polymer body comprising the polymer and the porogen layer. In at least one embodiment, the method also includes removing at least a portion of the layer of porogen from the matrix layer to create a porous layer of the solid piece of polymer.
IMMUNE CELL TRAPPING DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Embodiments herein described provide devices for identifying and collecting rare cells or cells which occur at low frequency in the body of a subject, such as, antigen-specific cells or disease-specific cells. More specifically, the devices are useful for trapping immune cells and the devices contain a physiologically-compatible porous polymer scaffold, a plurality of antigens, and an immune cell-recruiting agent, wherein the plurality of antigens and the immune cell recruiting agent attract and trap the immune cell in the device. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions, kits, and packages containing such devices. Additional embodiments relate to methods for making the devices, compositions, and kits/packages. Further embodiments relate to methods for using the devices, compositions, and/or kits in the diagnosis or therapy of diseases such as autoimmune diseases or cancers.

FOAM CASTING PROCESS
Disclosed herein are manufacturing/casting processes for the preparation of a foam.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE WITH VARIED COMPOSITION AND POROSITY, AND METHOD FOR FORMING SAME
A method for forming a thermoplastic body having regions with varied material composition and/or porosity. Powder blends comprising a thermoplastic polymer, a sacrificial porogen and an inorganic reinforcement or filler are molded to form complementary parts with closely toleranced mating surfaces. The parts are formed discretely, assembled and compression molded to provide a unitary article that is free from discernible boundaries between the assembled parts. Each part in the assembly has differences in composition and/or porosity, and the assembly has accurate physical features throughout the sections of the formed article, without distortion and nonuniformities caused by variable compaction and densification rates in methods that involve compression molding powder blends in a single step.

Method for producing porous devices
In general, in various embodiments, the present disclosure is directed systems and methods for producing a porous surface from a solid piece of polymer. In particular, the present disclosure is directed to systems that include a track assembly, mold assembly, press assembly, and methods for using the same for producing a porous surface from a solid piece of polymer. In some embodiments, the present systems and methods are directed to processing a polymer at a temperature below a melting point of the polymer to produce a solid piece of polymer with an integrated a porous surface.
MOLD FOR PROCESSING OF MATERIALS
In general, in various embodiments, the present disclosure is directed systems and methods for producing a porous surface from a solid piece of polymer. In particular, the present disclosure is directed to a mold for processing a material. The mold includes a body having a top surface and a bottom surface. A void within the body is configured to receive a porogen and a piece of thermoplastic material. The void extends in a top to bottom direction to form a non-through cavity with a cavity surface that is substantially parallel to the bottom surface of the body. A protrusion on the body extends from the cavity surface towards the top surface. The void extends at least halfway through the body towards the bottom surface. A peg is disposed on the body and shaped to matingly engage a weight via a hole within the weight.
VAPORIZER UNIT FOR A VAPORIZER DEVICE OF AN INHALER
The invention relates to a vaporizer unit (21) for a vaporizer device (2) of an inhaler, in particular of an electronic cigarette (1), the vaporizer unit (21) consisting of a material that comprises at least one thermoplastic, preferably a high-performance thermoplastic. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a vaporizer unit (21).
IMPLANTABLE DEVICES
Implantable devices for orthopedic, including spine and other uses are formed of porous reinforced polymer scaffolds. Scaffolds include a thermoplastic polymer forming a porous matrix that has continuously interconnected pores. The porosity and the size of the pores within the scaffold are selectively formed during synthesis of the composite material, and the composite material includes a plurality of reinforcement particles integrally formed within and embedded in the matrix and exposed on the pore surfaces. The reinforcement particles provide one or more of reinforcement, bioactivity, or bioresorption.
