FOAM COMPOSITES

Polystyrene-phenolic foam composites and precursor compositions are disclosed. The composites exhibit excellent flame resistance properties and may be suitably prepared in standard expanded polystyrene processing equipment.

The thermosetting resin composition according to an embodiment of the present invention contains a component (A) which is a novolac vinyl ester resin having a hydroxyl group and an ethylenically unsaturated group in the molecule, a component (B) which is an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and a component (D) which is a polyisocyanate compound, wherein the component (A) has a hydroxyl value of 30-150 mgKOH/g, and the mole number of the hydroxyl group with respect to the mole number of the ethylenically unsaturated group per gram of the component (A) ((the amount of the hydroxyl group [mol/g])/(the amount of the ethylenically unsaturated group [mol/g])) is 0.1-0.8.

The resin-coated metal sheet for containers includes a resin coating layer (A) having a multilayered structure mainly composed of a polyester resin on at least one surface thereof. The resin coating layer (A) includes a resin layer (a1). The resin layer (a1) adheres to the metal sheet, contains (i) a polyester resin, (ii) a phenolic resin, (iii) a metal alkoxide compound and/or a metal chelate compound, (iv) an epoxy resin, and (v) at least one selected from the group consisting of polyamine resins, polyamidoamine resins, and polyamide resins, and is mainly composed of the polyester resin.
