A coupling device driven by a plurality of drive disks corresponds to a first motor and a second motor. One or more processors are configured to send a low torque command to a first motor, send the low torque command to a second motor, determine whether the first motor and the second motor meet one or more hold engagement criteria, send a high torque command to the first motor in response to the first motor and the second motor meeting the one or more hold engagement criteria, and send the high torque command to the second motor in response to the first motor and the second motor meeting the one or more hold engagement criteria.
TISSUE-REMOVING CATHETER WITH TORQUE CONTROL
A tissue-removing catheter for removing tissue in a body lumen includes an elongate body having an axis and proximal and distal end portions spaced apart from one another along the axis. A tissue-removing element is mounted on the distal end portion of the elongate body. The tissue-removing element is configured to remove the tissue as the tissue-removing element is rotated by the elongate body within the body lumen. A motor operatively engages the elongate body for driving rotation of the elongate body and tissue-removing element mounted on the elongate body. A controller is operatively connected to the motor and configured to perform a torque response routine to control a speed of the motor based on a set PWM value of the motor and a detected current applied to the motor during rotation of the elongate body and tissue-removing element.
RATCHETING MECHANISM FOR MEDICAL SCREWDRIVER
Described herein are devices and mechanisms for effective and streamlined ratcheting of handheld medical devices, for example, medical ratcheting screwdrivers. In some embodiments, a ratcheting mechanism is included, which comprises a moveable component, which can comprise a plurality of teeth, an engagement component comprising a plurality of protrusions configured to engage with the teeth, and a toggle collar between the moveable component and the engagement component. In some embodiments the toggle collar comprises stops configured to engage the protrusions and configured to toggle the ratcheting mechanism between modes allowing transmission of torque and force in a first rotational direction, but disallowing it in a second rotational direction and a mode allowing transmission of torque and force in the second rotational direction, but disallowing it in the first rotational direction.
Torque-based catheter articulation
A robotic surgical system configured for the articulation of a catheter comprises an input device, a control computer, and an instrument driver having at least one motor for displacing the pull-wire of a steerable catheter wherein the control computer is configured to determine the desired motor torque or tension of the pull-wire of a catheter based on user manipulation of the input device. The control computer is configured to output the desired motor torque or tension of the pull-wire to the instrument driver, whereby at least one motor of the instrument driver implements the desired motor torque to cause the desired pull-wire tension to articulate the distal tip of the catheter.
COMBINATION SCREWDRIVER AND TORQUE LIMITING SYSTEM
The present invention relates to the field of combination rotary tools, more in particular in the combination of screwdrivers and drills. In particular, the invention relates to a sleeve member having a hollow portion adapted to embrace a drill, and comprising a bolt- or screw-fitting unit. More in particular, in the context of the present invention said sleeve member is provided with a built-in mechanism for torque limitation.
Ultrasonic surgical instrument and ultrasonic surgical system
Disclosed are an ultrasonic surgical instrument (100) and ultrasonic surgical system; the ultrasonic surgical instrument (100) includes a waveguide (1) rotatable around an axis and in threaded connection with a transducer (200); a force transmission mechanism is in fixed connection with the waveguide (1), which has at least one stress surface (41); a rotatable mechanism includes a pushing mechanism and a rotatable driving mechanism having at least one force applying surface (51), the applying surface (51) and the stress surface (41) are not perpendicular to the axis, and can be engaged with each other; the pushing mechanism provides a pushing force the rotatable driving mechanism towards the force transmission mechanism, and the rotatable driving mechanism can overcome the pushing force when interaction force between the applying surface (51) and the stress surface (41) is in excess of a predetermined value.
Intramedullary fracture fixation devices and methods
An intramedullary bone fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and an actuator to deploy at least one gripper to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprises inserting a fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of the fixation device on one side of the fracture, providing rigidity across the fracture, and operating an actuator to deploy at least one gripper to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Various configurations allow a segmented device body to lock in the intramedullary space before and/or after fixation of the bone.
Handle to apply a torque and delivery unit provided with such handle
A handle connectable to a screw-type mechanical drive component for transmitting to the latter a first torque comprises first connection means, defining a constraint axis, for the connection of the handle to the mechanical drive component, a ring nut to which a second torque is manually applicable, support means of the ring nut for rotatably supporting the latter around an axis of rotation coinciding, in use, with the constraint axis, second means for connecting the ring nut to the support means, for connecting/disconnecting the ring nut and the support means in a mechanical and selective way, so that the ring nut is kinematically connected to the support means when rotated around the axis of rotation with a second torque lower than a threshold value and kinematically disconnected from the same upon exceeding such a threshold value.
ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
An ultrasonic surgical instrument includes an elongated assembly releasably engagable with an ultrasonic transducer and including a waveguide having a blade at a distal end and a torque adapter towards a proximal end. Fixed and movable sleeves are disposed about the waveguide and support and operably couple to a jaw member at the respective distal ends thereof. A drive tube is fixed to the movable sleeve such that translation of the drive tube pivots the jaw member relative to the blade. A torque housing is slidably disposed about the drive tube, longitudinally fixed about the fixed sleeve, and fixedly about the torque adapter. A rotation knob is longitudinally fixed about the torque housing and operably coupled to the torque housing such that the torque housing and the rotation knob cooperate to define a torque wrench inhibit application of additional torque to the waveguide above a torque limit.
