Features to couple acoustic drivetrain components in ultrasonic surgical instrument
An ultrasonic surgical instrument includes a body, an ultrasonic transducer rotatably supported within the body and having a threaded distal end, a shaft extending from the body, a waveguide extending through the shaft and having a threaded proximal end configured to threadedly engage the threaded distal end to define a threaded coupling, and an end effector at a distal end of the shaft. An integrated torque wrench mechanism is arranged within the body and includes a first torque wrench member rotationally coupled with a proximal end of the transducer, and a second torque wrench member arranged proximally of the first torque wrench member. The torque wrench members are configured to selectively couple together and frictionally engage one another to facilitate application of a predetermined maximum torque to the threaded coupling. The torque wrench members are configured to automatically decouple upon application of the predetermined maximum torque to the threaded coupling.
Robotic systems and methods for manipulating a cutting guide for a surgical instrument
A robotic surgery system includes a robotic manipulator and a cutting guide to be coupled to the robotic manipulator. The cutting guide is configured to guide a cutting tool so that the cutting tool cuts tissue of the patient. A control system is coupled to the robotic manipulator to control a location of the cutting guide and/or the cutting tool relative to the tissue.
HYPOCYCLOID REDUCTION GEARLESS SPRING WASHER TORQUE LIMITING DEVICE
Disposable torque-limiting gearless device with speed reduction. Torque-limiting interfaces having a plurality of undulations arranged around an axial bore or drive socket and separated by a plurality of transition regions configured to engage and disengage to provide torque transmission with predetermined torque limits at various rotational speeds and for amounts of actuations while remaining within a specified operational range. The reduction assembly integral to the gearless torque limiting assembly provides a drive shaft having an input segment, an eccentric segment, and an output segment, wherein the input segment and the output segment each have a centerline running along a same first axis, and wherein the eccentric segment has a center line running along a second axis, the second axis being parallel to the first axis and positioned a first distance away from the first axis.
MEDICAL TOOL EMPLOYING A WARNING MECHANISM NOTIFYING THAT A ROTATIONAL LIMIT HAS BEEN REACHED
A medical tool includes a rotation mechanism that further includes a warning feature. The warning feature provides an indication when the rotation mechanism has achieved a number of rotations.
Surgical instrument systems comprising an articulatable end effector and means for adjusting the firing stroke of a firing member
A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument can include an end effector, comprising an anvil and a staple cartridge. The surgical instrument can further include a shaft defining a longitudinal axis. The surgical instrument can also include an articulation joint, wherein the end effector is rotatably connected to the shaft about the articulation joint between an unarticulated position and at least one articulated position. The surgical instrument can include means for adjusting the length of a firing stroke as a function of the degree in which the end effector is articulated relative to the longitudinal axis. The surgical instrument can include a sensor configured to defect shifting of lateral portions of a flexible firing bar that extends through the articulation joint. Additionally or alternatively, the surgical instrument can include a relief feature configured to accommodate shifting of lateral portions of a flexible firing bar.
Surgical instrument
A surgical instrument includes a housing and an elongated shaft having a distal portion and a proximal portion coupled to the housing. The elongated shaft defines a longitudinal axis and a mandrel at the proximal portion. An inner shaft member extends at least partially through the elongated shaft. An actuating mechanism is operably coupled to the mandrel and is configured to selectively cause movement of the elongated shaft in a longitudinal direction with respect to the inner shaft member. The surgical also includes an end effector that is adapted for treating tissue and includes an upper jaw member pivotally coupled to a distal portion of the inner shaft member about a pivot axis and a lower jaw member supported by the distal portion of the elongated shaft. Longitudinal movement of the elongated shaft is configured to pivot the upper jaw member relative to the lower jaw member.
Bone distraction system
Instrumentation and methods are provided for orthopedic surgery, including bone distraction. The application describes a bone distraction system that can be used to both distract and retract, or increase and decrease, a gap between first and second bone segments. The instrumentation can include any one of, or any combination of, a distractor, a ratchet, a first footplate, a second footplate, a first torque application instrument, and a second torque application instrument.
DYNAMIC FEEDBACK END EFFECTOR
An end effector system for use in spinal surgery may be described herein. The end effector comprises a sterile section and a non-sterile section. The sterile section comprises an instrument holder that has pins for piercing a plastic sleeve. The instrument holder holds an instrument for performing spinal surgery. The non-sterile section comprises an end effector. The end effector comprises a motor and a transducer. The motor applies a torsional and axial force to the instrument. The transducer provides feedback to the end effector system to adjust a force applied to the instrument.
TORQUE-LIMITING SCREWDRIVER DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Various torque-limiting screwdriver devices, systems, and methods are disclosed. The screwdriver can include a body, a motor that is configured to rotate a screw engaged with the screwdriver, and a processor configured to control operation of the screwdriver. The screwdriver can have torque-limiting functionality, such as by monitoring the amount of torque applied to the screw and reducing or stopping rotation of the screw when certain torque-limiting criteria are met. In some embodiments, the screwdriver can be switched between manual operation by a user, and automated operation by a motor within the screwdriver. In some embodiments, the screwdriver can be attached to a robotic arm.
SURGICAL DRILL AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE AUTOMATIC STOP THEREOF
A surgical drill includes a drill bit, a driving device connected and electrically coupled to the drill bit, and a smart module electrically coupled to the driving device. In a bone drilling work, the smart module monitors an electrical signal of the driving device, and if the electrical signal shows a step drop, the smart module will send a stop command to the driving device to stop the operation of the driving device.
