The flame retardant foam is a molded form of a mixture containing at least a cellulose containing powder, a hydrophilic polymer, a foamable thermoplastic resin, a flame retardant, and water. The mixture contains at least one of tricalcium phosphate or silica as a dispersant.

The polylactide PLA may be a mixture of poly-L-lactide PLLA and poly-D-lactide PDLA isomers, wherein the mixture contains at least 80 wt. % of PLLA and not more than 20 wt. % of PDLA. Ammonium polyphosphate APP may be microencapsulated, wherein microcapsules have a diameter of 25.sub.jun to 55.sub.jun and may contain a melamin coating.

A low-density, halogen-free epoxy composition that is flame-resistant upon curing and is suitable for use as a potting compound. The epoxy composition includes: (a) an epoxy component; (b) at least one curative; (c) at least one latent curing accelerator; (d) a toughening component that includes nano-sized core shell rubber (CSR) particles having particle size of less than 1 micron; (e) a fire-retardant component that is halogen-free; and (f) hollow microspheres for reducing the density of the composition. The fire-retardant component includes a mixture of: (i) at least one polyphosphate; (ii) at least one metal borate; and (iii) at least one compound selected from alkaline earth metal hydroxides and aluminum hydroxides.

ADDITIVE COMPOSITION, FLAME-RETARDANT SYNTHETIC RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME, AND MOLDED ARTICLE THEREOF

Provided are: an additive composition which can impart excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy to a synthetic resin; a flame-retardant synthetic resin composition containing the same; and a molded article thereof. The additive composition contains: as a component (A), at least one ammonium polyphosphate; and as a component (B), at least one selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by Formula (1) and compounds represented by Formula (2). In Formula (1), R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each independently represent a divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and, in Formula (2), R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 each independently represent a divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and R.sup.7, R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.

Fire-retardant composite materials

A prepreg for the manufacture of a fibre-reinforced composite material having fire retardant properties, the prepreg comprising from 42 to 52 wt % of an epoxide resin matrix system and from 48 to 58 wt % fibrous reinforcement, each wt % being based on the total weight of the prepreg, the fibrous reinforcement being at least partially impregnated by the epoxide resin matrix system; wherein the epoxide resin matrix system includes as components: a. a mixture of (i) at least one epoxide-containing resin and (ii) at least one catalyst for curing the at least one epoxide-containing resin; and b. a plurality of solid fillers for providing fire retardant properties to the fibre-reinforced composite material formed after catalytic curing of the at least one epoxide-containing resin, wherein the weight ratio of component a. to component b. is from 1.4:1 to 1.86:1.

Fireproofing sealing mass and use thereof

The invention relates to a composition comprising: a binding agent based on an aqueous, or solvent-based polymer dispersion; fireproofing additives comprising a physically acting expanding agent and an ash-crust stabilizer; inorganic fibers; and a spherical filler. The invention also relates to the use of said composition as a sealing mass, in particular as a fireproofing sealing mass.

Intumescent coating system

An intumescent coating system contains: a polyol component; an isocyanate component; a latent crosslinker having two or more —NACH.sub.2OR groups, where A is selected from a group consisting of H and —CH.sub.2OR, and in each case R is independently selected from a group consisting of hydrocarbons having from one to four carbons, the latent crosslinker being present at a concentration of 30 weight-percent or more based on polyol weight; a boron component one weight-percent or more and 10 weight-percent or less based on total weight of the formulation; and expandable graphite at a concentration of 10 weight-percent or more and 50 weight-percent or less based on the total intumescent system weight; where the polyol and isocyanate are selected so that the reaction product at room temperature of the intumescent coating system components produces a coating having a tensile elongation of 40-percent or more as determined according to ISO 37.

A hotmelt adhesive composition comprising 15 to 45% by weight of at least one tackifying resin, and 20 to 60% by weight of a mixture of at least one single-site catalyzed propylene homopolymer (A) and at least one propylene copolymer (B), wherein the propylene homopolymer (A) has a weight average molecular weight of 20,000 to 145,000, the propylene copolymer (B) has an ethylene comonomer content of 5 to 25% by weight, and the weight ratio of propylene homopolymer (A) to propylene copolymer (B) is from 1:3 to 3:1, wherein the hotmelt adhesive further comprises at least one of the following two components (a) and (b): (a) a particulate phosphorous based compound in an amount of 15 to 40% by weight, or (b) a room temperature liquid phosphorous based compound in an amount of 4 to 15% by weight.
