Modified asphalts with enhanced rheological properties and associated methods
A modified asphalt binder with improved elastic properties and methods of making such modified asphalt binder. The modified asphalt binders may include one or more of an asphalt binder, a solvent deasphalted (SDA) pitch, a polymeric material, and optionally, a ground tire rubber. The disclosed modified asphalt binders exhibit properties consistent with decreased susceptibility to rutting and thus may be used in asphalt concrete applications.

Asphalt-based patch composition and method
An asphalt cold-patch compound composition and method are disclosed. The compound can include bituminous material and an oil binder mixed according to a ratio. For example, recycled roofing shingles and used motor oil can be mixed according to a ratio of about 9:1 to about 20:1. The compound is suitable for patching surfaces, such as roads, and can be placed in service without heating. The asphalt cold-patch compound can be made from recycled materials and can be applied without specialized heating equipment.
Bitumen solid at ambient temperature
A bitumen granules including a core and a coating layer, in which the core includes at least one bitumen base, and the coating layer includes at least: one oil selected from a hydrocarbon oil of petroleum or synthetic origin; and at least one organogelator compound selected from among compounds of general formula (I), (II) or (V). The invention also relates to a method for producing bitumen granules, as well as to the use thereof as an asphalt binder, in particular for producing mixes. The invention further relates to a method for producing mixes from bitumen granules and also to a method for transporting and/or storing and/or handling bitumen granules.
Asphalt concrete composition having improved waterproof performance by comprising SIS, recycled asphalt aggregate, and fine powder aggregate with improved particle size, and construction method using the same
An asphalt concrete composition having improved waterproof performance, and a construction method using the composition. The composition includes 100 parts by weight of virgin asphalt, 5 to 25 parts by weight of styrene isoprene styrene, 5 to 15 parts by weight of petroleum resin, 250 to 1,000 parts by weight of reclaimed asphalt pavement, 1 to 10 parts by of a performance improving agent, 250 to 1,000 parts by weight of virgin aggregate, 30 to 150 parts by weight of fine powder aggregate, and 0.1 to 2 parts by weight of cellulose fiber. The composition's waterproof performance is due to its high cohesion and adhesion. The composition is durable and is not easily rutted, aged and/or stripped. In addition, the composition has a performance grade of PG 82-34, can prevent water penetration and potholes, and enables a placement process to be easily performed at low costs.
Active polymer modification of bitumen for use in roofing materials
A modified bitumen consisting of a polyurethane wherein the polyisocyanate or polyisocyanate-dominated polyurethane prepolymer (or prepolymers) is first reacted with the bitumen to take advantage of the bitumen's hydroxyl and amine functionality and form an isocyanate-bitumen adduct to form a weatherproofing product.
COMPOSITION
The invention provides a polyolefin composition comprising a) 60 to 99 wt % of a polyethylene plastomer, wherein said polyethylene is a copolymer of ethylene and one or more C.sub.3-C.sub.12 α-olefins, having a density of less than 904 kg/m.sup.3; and b) 1 to 40 wt % of a polypropylene copolymer wax having a melt flow rate (MFR) at 230° C./2.16 kg of more than 400 g/10 min.
NATURAL RUBBER SKIM BLOCK IN ASPHALT COMPOSITIONS AND NON-ASPHALT SOLVENT-BASED COATINGS
A skim block composition includes a carrier mixed with a skim block addition, the skim block addition including from 0 to less than 100 wt % synthetic polymer, and from greater than 0 to 100% skim block. This provides productive use for the typical waste product skim block, which is the neutralized and coagulated product of skim latex formed during the production of natural rubber latex concentrate by centrifugation.
INTERFACE AGENTS FOR THE PREPARATION OF COLD ROAD SURFACINGS
The invention relates to the manufacture of a bituminous product type mix or surface dressing which includes bringing into contact, at a temperature below 110° C., mineral particles with an emulsion (i) derived from emulsification of a hydrocarbon binder in an aqueous phase at a mixing temperature above the contacting temperature, and (ii) which includes an additive which: forms a homogeneous mixture with the hydrocarbon binder at the mixing temperature; is not compatible with the hydrocarbon binder at the contacting temperature; is used at a content above its solubility in the aqueous medium of the emulsion at the contacting temperature.
FLUXING AGENTS FOR HOT SURFACE DRESSINGS
The invention relates to the use, as fluxing agent for the production of a hot surface dressing, of an additive for hydrocarbon binder including at least one compound having the formula CH.sub.3—X—R—Y—R.sup.2 where: R.sup.2 is a C.sub.1-C.sub.11 chain of alkyl type, advantageously methyl; —X— and —Y— are each an ester or amide group with R′═H or C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl; and —R— is a C.sub.1-C.sub.10 divalent hydrocarbon chain, optionally interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms; and where the STV pseudo-viscosity measured for said hydrocarbon binder to which has been added 10% by weight of said additive is below 500 seconds.
