Hybrid composition and method for the repair and maintenance of asphalt and concrete surfaceways
A sealant material composition for sealing asphalt includes a non-fiber asphalt emulsion between about 20.0 wt. % and about 60.0 wt. %, carbon black between about 0.5 wt. % and about 5.0 wt. %, an aggregate between about 1.0 wt. % and about 10.0 wt. %, wherein the aggregate is amorphous aluminum silicate, and a hydrophobic additive between about 0.1 wt. % and about 1.0 wt. %.
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR TREATING AN ASPHALT PAVEMENT WITH A PENETRATING EMULSION
A penetrating base oil emulsion and a method of using the penetrating base oil emulsion to fill voids below the surface of an asphalt pavement. The penetrating emulation further being water resistant so as not to be washed off a pavement surface by water after being applied to the pavement. The penetrating base oil emulsion can also rejuvenate the surface of the asphalt.
Active polymer modification of bitumen for use in roofing materials
A modified bitumen consisting of a polyurethane wherein the polyisocyanate or polyisocyanate-dominated polyurethane prepolymer (or prepolymers) is first reacted with the bitumen to take advantage of the bitumen's hydroxyl and amine functionality and form an isocyanate-bitumen adduct to form a weatherproofing product.
RECYCLING OF STEROL-CONTAINING ASPHALT BINDER
Disclosed are asphalt binder compositions and methods for making such compositions with sterol. The sterol improves various rheological and chemical properties of asphalt binder.
MODIFIED ASPHALTS WITH ENHANCED RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
A modified asphalt binder with improved elastic properties and methods of making such modified asphalt binder. The modified asphalt binders may include one or more of an asphalt binder, a solvent deasphalted (SDA) pitch, a polymeric material, and optionally, a ground tire rubber. The disclosed modified asphalt binders exhibit properties consistent with decreased susceptibility to rutting and thus may be used in asphalt concrete applications.
PHASE STABLE POLYMER-ASPHALT COMPOSITIONS
Phase stable compositions of styrenic block copolymers (SBC) and high asphaltene content asphalts and methods for their preparation are provided. In particular the styrenic block copolymer is a styrene-conjugated diene-styrene block copolymer such as styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) and phase stability is achieved through addition of low levels of sulfur based crosslinkers. The compositions find use in, for example, the manufacture of roofing membranes.
POLYOLEFIN COMPOSITION FOR NON-ORIENTED FILM WITH IMRPOVED OXYGEN BARRIER PROPERTY
The present invention is directed to a polyolefin composition suitable for producing a non-oriented film with improved oxygen barrier property, and to such a non-oriented film. The polyolefin composition comprises a propylene homo-or copolymer, a hydrocarbon resin and optionally a nucleating agent. The present invention is also directed to the use of a hydrocarbon resin in a non-oriented film comprising a propylene homo- or copolymer for improving oxygen barrier property of said non-oriented film. The present invention allows the application of a polypropylene based non-oriented film like a cast film (CPP) for packaging of sensitive food.
Petrocoke and extract-doped modified bitumen composition for use in production of asphalt and method of producing the same
A modified bitumen composition used in asphalt-coated roads as a binding raw material having petrocoke, a derivative of carbon based crude oil, and extract, a base oil unit by-product, as additives, and to a method of producing the same. The modified bitumen composition of the invention contains at least 55% by weight of bitumen with a penetration in the range of 40 to 110 as per EN 1426 standard, and 1%-40% by weight of petrocoke with a particle size preferably less than 300 micrometers, and 2% to 5% by weight of extract, a base oil unit by-product, as additives. Determination of the amount of the additives petrocoke and extract to be added to the bitumen, optimum values of such parameters as mixing temperature and mixing rate to distribute in the bitumen homogenously and the conditions at which the modified bitumen may be stored and/or transported without losing its improved properties.
