Surgical protection system

A device comprising: (a) one or more markers, some or all of which are expandable rounded members that are expandable from a stored state to an expanded state and when in the expanded state each of the expandable rounded members expand to move into contact with a lumen in an organ; and (b) one or more tissue tags connected to the expandable rounded members or the expandable rounded members being made of a magnetized material; and wherein the expandable rounded members are configured to be located within and deployed from an insertion mechanism into the lumen in the organ.

DISPOSABLE MATERIAL TO PROTECT NON-TARGET TISSUE DURING TREATMENT OF THE SKIN AND METHOD OF PROTECTING THE SKIN
20190247140 · 2019-08-15 ·

A disposable material, pre-cut to various shapes or able to be cut or shaped at the time of use, to protect non-target tissue, excluding the eyes, during treatment of the skin is disclosed. The disposable material comprises a flexible material comprising at least one first layer comprising a material that mitigates the transmission of electromagnetic radiation from an radiation source; a backing layer that is located on top of the first layer and is configured to diffusively reflect the electromagnetic radiation without direct specular reflection; and an adhesive for removably attaching the disposable material to the skin. There is also disclosed a method of protecting non-target tissue, excluding the eyes, by applying the disclosed material to a desired location.

MICRO-PULSED LIQUID SPRAY FOR COOLING
20190239938 · 2019-08-08 ·

An apparatus for cooling tissues which are treated with an energy-based device, such as a laser, is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a spray nozzle which generates an atomized liquid spray for the treatment area, wherein the atomized liquid spray is based on a mixture of liquid and gas. Further, the spray nozzle comprises at least one liquid outlet which ejects a liquid, and at least one gas outlet which ejects a gas stream. Besides, the apparatus for cooling comprises at least one delivery means for delivering pressurized gas to the spray nozzle; and a pumping means for the liquid, wherein the pumping means is configured to operate in pulses.

GUARD STRUCTURE FOR A HAIR CUTTING DEVICE

There is provided a guard structure for use in a hair cutting device for cutting hair on a body of a subject, the guard structure comprising one or more guard elements, wherein the one or more guard elements are arranged such that in use in the hair cutting device the one or more guard elements space an optical waveguide in the hair cutting device from the skin of the subject, and wherein the one or more guard elements are shaped and/or formed to minimise or reduce the coupling of light from the optical waveguide to the guard structure.

DEVICE FOR MONITORING TEMPERATURES WITHIN AND ADJACENT TO BODY LUMENS
20190209229 · 2019-07-11 ·

A device for monitoring temperature adjacent to an ablation site, the device having an expandable component and a shaft that includes a lumen, at least one fluid port in communication with the lumen, and a plurality of flexible elements having a first end connected to the shaft and a second end having a temperature sensor mounted thereon.

Facial protection and thermoregulation for patients undergoing surgery

A mask suitable for protecting the face of a patient during surgery comprises a transparent plastic shield which includes a transverse cutout that provides access to the nose and mouth, and a vertical gap which runs from the cutout to the shield's perimeter. Padding affixed to the perimeter of the shield's underside provides a cushion between the shield and face. The padding is preferably arranged such that the mask can be installed or removed without dislodging tubing inserted into the patient's nose or mouth via the transverse cutout. An attachment mechanism secures the shield to the face. A warming hood may be coupled to the protective mask. The hood preferably comprises outer and inner layers, with an access point at which air can be introduced between the layers; perforations on the inner layer permit warm air to be dispersed onto the patient.

Far red and near infrared light-mediated conditioning of tissues and/or blood to prevent reperfusion injury in endovascular therapies

Reperfusion injury is limited during endovascular therapies (e.g., revascularization and/or reperfusion of end organ tissues) by conditioning the tissues against reperfusion injury using an optical fiber catheter to deliver far red and near infrared (R/NIR) light to the tissues. The light may be multiple wavelength or single wavelength light, and may have one or more wavelengths selected from the range of 510 to 830 nm. The R/NIR light may be delivered concurrently with the endovascular therapy, or in other instances may be delivered before or after a particular therapy.

Light therapy platform system

Phototherapy systems comprising a therapeutic lamp platform for radiant lamps such as LEDs disposed in an assembly including a reflective surface facing towards a patient and a plurality of light apertures substantially aligned with the LEDs for communicating lamp radiation from the lamps to a user. The lamps and associated circuitry are disposed so that the reflective surface is relatively smooth and seamless towards the patient. The walls have a malleable rigidity for flexible adjustability relative to the user, and the device is mounted to the user with a frame.
