Variable Stiffness Hammertoe K-Wire and Methods for Use
The present disclosure provides an apparatus comprising a wire having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. A first portion of the wire including the first end comprises a malleable region that is configured to remain deformed after bending, and a second portion of the wire including the second end comprises a superelastic region that is configured to return to a straight configuration after bending.
UNIVERSAL ADAPTER FOR HANDHELD SURGICAL SYSTEMS
Adapters for surgical drilling systems, and methods of use, are provided for performing surgical procedures, such as surgical drilling into bony structures, while guided by a conductivity sensing system. The adapters may be configured to be coupled to a surgical drilling tool such as a conventional surgical drill and a drill bit having conductivity sensing capabilities, or a surgical hand tool having conductivity sensing capabilities. The adapters further include a controller configured to receive one or more signal indicative of measured electrical conductivity and/or penetration depth measurement, detect a condition associated with a change of measured electrical conductivity based on the signal, and arrest advancement of the surgical drilling tool responsive to detection of the condition.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CLOSING PORTIONS OF BODY TISSUE
A system for closing a blood vessel includes a housing having a proximal end and a distal end and configured to be held in the hand of a user, an elongate body extending from the distal end of the housing, a distal housing having a proximal end coupled to a distal end of the elongate body and having a cavity including an opening on a side of the distal housing, a lumen passing through the elongate body and terminating at the cavity of the distal housing and configured to couple to a vacuum source, a sensor carried by the distal housing adjacent the cavity and configured for identifying a blood vessel, wherein the lumen is configured to maintain a vacuum within the cavity when a probe having a vessel closure module is inserted within the lumen and the vessel closure module is within the cavity.
Laser-assisted transdermal delivery of nanoparticulates and hydrogels
A laser treatment system includes a laser device configured to produce a laser beam at a wavelength in an ultraviolet spectrum to provide for tissue ablation, a lens configured to focus and direct the laser beam to a site to form an opening in a surface of the site, a valve connected to a first channel, and a nozzle that emits the laser beam and controls delivery of at least a first substance and a second substance to the site. A portion of the first channel is disposed within a first sidewall of the nozzle to deliver the first substance, and a second channel unconnected with the valve is disposed within a second sidewall of the nozzle to deliver the second substance.
TIGON MEDICAL BUTTON SYSTEM
Disclosed are improved methods, apparatus and/or systems for securing and/or anchoring tissue structures to bones, including unicortical soft tissue fixation.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PASSING TENSION MEMBER AROUND TISSUE MASS
Disclosed are apparatus and method for forming passage extending along a plane crossing an organ's volumetric region from an entry point to an opposing exit point at a surface of the organ, and for passing a tension member around the volumetric region by pulling the tension member from the exit point to the entry point through the passage. The apparatus can include a rigid outer tube with a tip for penetrating the organ and reach a penetration depth; an inner needle with elastic body configured to pass straightened through outer tube lumen and to partially protrude and voluntarily flex to a curved form greater than the diameter of the volumetric region; and a tension member passer with a pulling portion for engaging with portion of tension member and for pulling the tension member when withdrawn.
Bone Screw Fixation System
A bone screw fixation system includes a bone screw body having a screw head at one end of the screw and a screw tip at an opposite end of the screw, the screw head having an internal complex geometric shaped drive and internal threads within the screw head; and a screw inserter compatible with the screw head and having a complex geometric shaped drive configured to matingly engage the internal complex geometric shaped drive of the screw head and a threaded tip configured to thread into the internal threads of the screw head.
INSERT SENSING SYSTEM WITH MEDIAL-LATERAL SHIMS AND METHOD THEREFOR
An orthopedic system to monitor a parameter related to the muscular-skeletal system is disclosed. The orthopedic system includes electronic circuitry, at least one sensor, and a computer to receive measurement data in real-time. The orthopedic system comprises a first plurality of shims of a first type, a second plurality of a second type, a measurement module, and the computer. The measurement module houses the electronic circuitry and at least one sensor. The measurement module is adapted to be used with the first plurality of shims and the second plurality of shims. The measurement module has a medial surface that differs from a lateral surface by shape, size, or contour.
RETROGRADE DRILLING DEVICE
A drill assembly for creating a reverse counterbore bone tunnel while increasing bone preservation. The drill assembly including a housing having an actuation mechanism and a cannulated shaft connected to the actuation mechanism. The drill assembly also includes a rigid rod extending through the cannulated shaft. Engaging the actuation mechanism moves the cannulated shaft along the rigid rod. The drill assembly additionally includes a distal tip connected to the cannulated shaft and the rigid rod. Proximal movement of the cannulated shaft along the rigid rod causes the distal tip to rotate from a first configuration to a second configuration. In the second configuration, the distal tip extends at an angle relative to the cannulated shaft.
SYSTEMS FOR TREATING TISSUE
Systems and methods for treating cellulite including an apparatus that applies or a method involving separating septa to eliminate or reduce the appearance of cellulite. In one approach, an interventional tool is placed between tissue layers to engage and treat septa connecting tissue layers between which fat deposits are contained.
