FASTENER CARTRIDGES INCLUDING EXTENSIONS HAVING DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS
A fastener cartridge can include, one, a cartridge body comprising a deck and a plurality of fastener cavities and, two, a plurality of fasteners positioned in the fastener cavities. The cartridge body can further comprise extensions extending from the deck having different sizes and/or configurations. The extensions can control the flow of tissue relative to the deck and/or support the fasteners as they are ejected from the fastener cavities.
SCISSOR SLEEVE ASSEMBLY PROTECTION
A sleeve extractor includes a cylindrical body having a distal end and a proximal end, one or more longitudinally-extending fingers defined in the body, and a tab provided on an end of each finger and receivable within a notch defined in a shaft adapter or a shaft of a surgical tool, the notch being located proximal to a proximal end of a sleeve. The sleeve is removed by locating the tab of each finger in a corresponding notch and retracting the body and the sleeve distally relative to the shaft adapter or the shaft.
ATHERECTOMY DEVICES INCLUDING AXIALLY OSCILLATING CUTTING ELEMENTS
An atherectomy device includes a cutter assembly. The cutter assembly includes a housing, and the housing includes a housing bearing surface. The cutter assembly also includes a cutting element rotatably and translatably carried by the housing. The cutting element includes at least one cutting blade configured to cut occlusive material upon rotation of the cutting element relative to the housing. The cutting element also includes a cutter bearing surface configured to engage the housing bearing surface. Upon the cutting element rotating relative to the housing and the at least one cutting blade cutting occlusive material, the cutting element translates distally relative to the housing until the cutter bearing surface engages the housing bearing surface.
Virtual guidance for orthopedic surgical procedures
An example method includes displaying, via a visualization device and overlaid on a portion of an anatomy of a patient viewable via the visualization device, a virtual model of the portion of the anatomy obtained from a virtual surgical plan for an orthopedic joint repair surgical procedure to attach a prosthetic to the anatomy; and displaying, via the visualization device and overlaid on the portion of the anatomy, a virtual guide that guides at least one of preparation of the anatomy for attachment of the prosthetic or attachment of the prosthetic to the anatomy.
DEVICE FOR ARTERIAL PUNCTURE ASSISTANCE
Device for arterial puncture assistance. In an embodiment, the device comprises an upper component, lower component, and coupling mechanism that couples the lower component to the upper component. The upper component may comprise a platform configured to support a syringe. The lower component may comprise one or more finger holes, wherein each of the one or more finger holes is configured to receive a human finger therethrough, so as to enable contemporaneous stabilization of the lower component on the human finger and palpation of an arterial pulse by the human finger during an arterial puncture.
METHODS AND FEATURES FOR COUPLING ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT COMPONENTS TOGETHER
A surgical apparatus comprises a transducer assembly and a shaft assembly. The transducer assembly is operable to convert electrical power into ultrasonic vibrations. The shaft assembly comprises an ultrasonic waveguide, a sheath, a shroud, and a torque transfer assembly. The waveguide is configured to couple with the transducer assembly. The waveguide is disposed within the sheath. The sheath extends through the shroud. The torque transfer assembly is contained within the shroud. The torque transfer assembly is configured to transfer a predetermined range of torque from the shroud to the waveguide to thereby couple the waveguide with the transducer assembly. The torque transfer assembly is further configured to prevent transfer of torque from the shroud to the waveguide beyond an upper limit of the predetermined range.
SOFT TISSUE CUTTING DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE
Some embodiments provide a soft tissue device, such as a transverse carpal ligament cutting device having one or more balloons that are deflated when the device is in an inactive position and are inflated when the device is in an active position. Other embodiments provide a soft tissue cutting method, such as a method of cutting a transverse carpal ligament that uses a soft tissue cutting device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TISSUE CONTACT DETECTION AND FOR AUTO-EXPOSURE AND ILLUMINATION CONTROL
A system determines that a change in luminance of captured frames of a scene in response to a change in illumination brightness of the scene is less than a threshold value and commands, based on the determination that the change in luminance of the captured frames of the scene is less than the threshold value, attenuation of the illumination brightness of the scene.
Surgical end effectors with staple cartridges
An end effector for use with a surgical instrument includes an anvil with at least one staple pocket that defines a longitudinal axis. The staple pocket comprises a first cup and a second cup. The end effector also includes a staple cartridge.
