COUNTING UNIT
A counting unit is provided for use in an electrical device. The counting unit is configured to count a thermal event such as an autoclave cleaning operation when the electrical device is not electrically powered. In one aspect, the counting unit includes a rotary member and an actuator, the actuator is configured to change shape from a first configuration to a second configuration when subjected to a predetermined temperature, wherein in the second configuration, the actuator engages the rotary member so as to rotate the rotary member. In another aspect, the counting unit includes a plunger, a drive and a heat resistant arm configured to release the plunger during a thermal event and retain the plunger when the electrical device is cooled down.
SURGICAL STAPLER HAVING A POWERED HANDLE
A powered handle for a surgical stapler can have a drive system including an electric motor. The powered handle can include a manual articulation mechanism to articulate a jaw assembly coupled to a reload shaft connected to the handle. The manual articulation mechanism can include a ball screw mechanism that translates an articulation member responsive to rotation of an articulation knob. The articulation mechanism includes a release function that allows the jaw assembly to return to a longitudinally centered orientation. The powered handle includes a battery pack serving as a power supply for the drive system. A control system can control actuation of the motor based on user inputs and operating parameters of the stapler. The powered handle can include a manual return mechanism.
Surgical instrument set and instrument management system
A system includes a first memory to store instrument IDs associated in a one-to-one correspondence with instruments, a second memory to store set IDs associated in a one-to-one correspondence with surgical instrument sets each including a plurality of instruments, a third memory to store work histories of the instruments each identified by a respective one of the instrument IDs, each of the work histories stored in association with the respective one of the instrument IDs and including work information about repair work, and a fourth memory to store work histories of the surgical instrument sets each identified by a respective one of the set IDs, each of the work histories stored in association with the respective one of the set IDs and including work information about repair work.
Intraluminal device reuse prevention with patient interface module and associated devices, systems, and methods
A sensing system includes a patient interface module (PIM) communicatively disposed between a processing system and a sensing device configured to obtain measurement data associated with a body of a patient while positioned within the body, the sensing device comprising a memory, wherein the patient interface module comprises: a controller operable to: read data stored on the memory of the sensing device using a first signal voltage; and write to the memory to disable further operation of the sensing device using a second signal voltage; and a voltage switch configured to selectively output the first signal voltage or the second signal voltage.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH FIRING LOCKOUT
A surgical instrument. The surgical instrument has an end effector and a trigger in communication with the end effector. The surgical instrument also has a first sensor and an externally accessible memory device in communication with the first sensor. The first sensor has an output that represents a first condition of either the trigger or the end effector. The memory device is configured to record the output of the first sensor. In various embodiments, memory device may include an output port and/or a removable storage medium.
Color coding
A medical instrument, including an atomic layer deposition, ALD, coating to indicate the type of the medical instrument, and use of ALD to indicate number of re-uses of a medical instrument.
RF generator for an electrosurgical instrument
A device is provided for generating RF power for an electrosurgical instrument, wherein the circuit provides the electrosurgical current according to a specified set of predefined parameters. The invention further includes at least one read and write RFID that reads information from a RFID tag. The circuit changes the parameters based on the information.
Surgical instrument with a sensing array
A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a shaft, a sensing array and a fluid detection circuit. The sensing array is positioned within the shaft. The fluid detection circuit is electrically coupled to the sensing array, and is configured to determine when a fluid originating from an environment external to the shaft is present within the shaft.
VARIABLE LENGTH VASCULAR OCCLUSION SYSTEM
A vascular occlusion system may include a microcatheter configured to navigate a vasculature, an elongate shaft slidably disposed within a lumen of the microcatheter, the elongate shaft having a lumen extending from a proximal end of the elongate shaft to a distal end of the elongate shaft, a plurality of occlusive medical devices releasably connected to the elongate shaft, and a release wire slidably disposed within the elongate shaft and at least a portion of each of the plurality of occlusive medical devices. The release wire secures each of the plurality of occlusive medical devices to the distal end of the elongate shaft when the release wire is disposed within at least a portion of each of the plurality of occlusive medical devices.
POWERED SURGICAL TACK APPLIER
A handle assembly for use with a surgical tack applier includes an actuation assembly and an articulation lever assembly configured to articulate an articulation portion of the surgical tack applier. The actuation assembly includes a motor, an actuation rod, and an actuation switch configured to actuate the motor. The actuation rod has a first end operatively coupled to an output shaft of the motor for concomitant rotation therewith, and a second end operatively coupled to a loading unit of the surgical tack applier such that rotation of the actuation rod ejects a surgical tack from the loading unit. The articulation lever assembly includes an articulation rod operatively coupled with an articulation portion of the surgical tack applier such that axial displacement of the articulation rod causes articulation of the articulation portion, and an articulation lever operatively coupled with the articulation rod.
