SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LAUNCHING USAGE MODE IN A MULTIMODAL SURGICAL GAS DELIVERY SYSTEM
A surgical gas delivery device includes a filter cartridge interface and a computer controlled control unit configured to control the circulation of surgical gas during endoscopic surgery. The control unit can operate in a plurality of different modes of operation. A tube set for connecting the surgical gas delivery device to one or more end effectors includes a filter cartridge in fluid communication with the tube set. The filter cartridge is seated in the filter cartridge interface of the surgical gas delivery device to communicate surgical gas between the surgical gas delivery device and the one or more end effectors. The surgical gas delivery device includes a reader operatively connected to receive input from a data carrying element of the tube set. The data carrying element, reader, and control unit can launch a specific one of the modes of operation when the filter cartridge is inserted.
Systems and methods for controlling a surgical stapling and cutting instrument
Various examples are directed to systems and methods for operating a surgical instrument comprising a firing member translatable proximally and distally along a longitudinal axis between a stroke begin position to a stroke end position distal of the stroke begin position; a knife coupled to the firing member; and a motor coupled to the firing member to translate the firing member between the stroke begin position and the stroke end position. A control circuit may receive a firing signal and begin a firing member stroke by providing an initial motor setting to the motor. The control circuit may maintain the initial motor setting for an open-loop portion of the firing member stroke. The control circuit may receive energy data describing energy provided to the motor during the open-loop portion of the firing member stroke and may select a firing control program based at least in part on the energy data.
Position-tracking-enabling connector for an ear-nose-throat (ENT) tool
A medical instrument includes a shaft, one or more position sensors, a connector and interrogation circuitry. The shaft is configured for insertion into a body of a patient. The one or more position sensors are fitted at a distal end of the shaft. The connector is configured to receive a mating connector. The interrogation circuitry is configured to detect whether the mating connector is connected to the connector, and, if not connected, to prevent tracking a position of the distal end in the body using the one or more position sensors.
SURGICAL SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROTECTING AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED USE
A surgical device includes a limited-use component configured to perform a surgical operation, where the limited-use component can be used for a pre-determined number of uses, and a reusable component operationally coupled to the limited-use component. The limited-use component includes a body forming a pocket and a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag disposed within the pocket. The reusable component includes an RFID tag transceiver configured to read operating parameters from a memory of the RFID tag of the limited-use component. The operating parameters are erased from the memory when the limited-use component has been used for the pre-determined number of uses.
HANDHELD ELECTROMECHANICAL SURGICAL SYSTEM
The present disclosure relates to adapter assemblies for use with and to electrically and mechanically interconnect electromechanical surgical devices and surgical reloads, and to surgical systems including handheld electromechanical surgical devices and adapter assemblies for connecting surgical reloads to the handheld electromechanical surgical devices.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE, PRESENTATION METHOD, AND SURGICAL SYSTEM
The present disclosure relates to an information processing device, a presentation method, and a surgical system that make it possible to suppress the occurrence of medical accidents. A voice recognition unit counts, through voice recognition, the remaining number of surgical tools existing in the body of the patient and used for a surgical operation, an image recognition unit counts, through image recognition, the remaining number of the surgical tools existing in the body of the patient, and a presentation control unit presents a predetermined warning when a difference arises between a first remaining number counted through the voice recognition and a second remaining number counted through the image recognition. The present disclosure can be applied to surgical systems.
Medical circulation detent device, medical instrument and medical sterilization container
The invention relates to a medical circulation detent device, comprising at least one circulation body and a latching element. The at least one circulation body comprising a restricted guide and at least one latching receptacle for the latching element. The latching element is guidable through the restricted guide from an unlatched position to a latched position at a first side of the at least one latching receptacle into the latter, and at a second side of the at least one latching receptacle from the latched position to an unlatched position again. An operative element is coupled to the latching element via a coupling element. A thermal actuating element is operatively connected to the latching element and transferable due to temperature from a first state to a second state and vice versa in order to move the operative element. The invention also relates to a medical sterilization container.
COMBINATION ULTRASONIC AND ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT HAVING CURVED ULTRASONIC BLADE
A surgical instrument includes an ultrasonic transducer, a shaft defining a longitudinal axis, and an end effector at a distal end of the shaft. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade driven by the ultrasonic transducer to treat tissue with ultrasonic energy. A tissue treatment portion of the ultrasonic blade includes a linear blade region extending parallel to the longitudinal axis, a curved blade region extending distally from the linear blade region along a curved path that deflects laterally from the longitudinal axis, an upper treatment side, a lower treatment side, a first lateral side having a first sweeping side surface, and a second lateral side having a second sweeping side surface. The sweeping side surfaces define respective first and second side edges of a transverse cross-section of the tissue treatment portion, and are configured such that the first and second side edges are parallel to one another.
Surgical instrument with firing lockout
A surgical instrument comprising an end effector, a firing member, an electric motor, a first lockout, and a control system comprising a second lockout is disclosed. The end effector is configured to support a removable staple cartridge. The firing member is movable toward a distal end of the end effector during a firing motion. The electric motor is configured to drive the firing member during the firing motion. The first lockout is mechanically engageable with the firing member. The control system is configured to prevent delivery of electrical power to the electric motor based on respective states of the first and second lockouts.
