Provided are a coloring composition which hardly causes warping or the like to occur in a substrate to which the coloring composition has been applied, and is capable of forming a cured film or the like having excellent colorfastness; and a cured film, a color filter, a pattern forming method, a method for manufacturing a color filter, a solid-state imaging device, and an image display device, each using such a coloring composition.

A coloring composition containing a colorant and a resin, in which the content of the colorant with respect to the total solid content of the coloring composition is 60% by mass or more, the resin contains at least a siloxane resin having SiOH bonds and SiOR.sup.1 bonds in the total number of 0.2 to 1.0 bonds per silicon atom, and the content of the siloxane resin with respect to the total solid content of the coloring composition is 1% by mass to 20% by mass. Here, R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group.
