DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PARTLY ISOLATING A TARGET BIOLOGICAL STRUCTURE
The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for partly isolating a target biological structure. The device may include a main body comprising a front face and a rear face, the main body having a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end may be arcuate in a first state and may be substantially planar in a second state. The device may further include one or more balloons disposed on the distal end of the main body. Each of the one or more balloons is deflated in the first state and each of the one or more balloons is inflated in the second state. The distal end of the main body is configured to deform to be substantially planar when each of the one or more balloons are inflated in the second state.
Method and apparatus for performing spine surgery
Systems and methods are described for correcting sagittal imbalance in a spine including instruments for performing the controlled release of the anterior longitudinal ligament through a lateral access corridor and hyper-lordotic lateral implants.
INSTRUMENT FOR DELAMINATING RETINAL MEMBRANES
An ophthalmic surgical instrument for delaminating a retinal membrane includes a handpiece and an actuator mounted on the handpiece. An outer tube has a proximal end mounted to the handpiece. A dissection spatula is extendable outwardly relative to a distal end of the outer tube responsive to movement of the actuator, the dissection spatula defining a channel connected to an opening proximate a distal edge of the dissection spatula. A dispensing system is in fluid communication with the channel. The dispensing system may include a reservoir within the handpiece. The fluid may be dyed blue to enhance visibility of a delaminated portion of the retinal membrane.
INSERTION TOOL FOR AN EYE DISEASE TREATMENT DEVICE
Described herein are insertion tools for inserting a treatment device into a pocket formed between conjunctival tissue and scleral tissue for treating high intraocular pressure and glaucoma. An insertion tool (800) includes a scissoring mechanism or an expandable mechanism that is configured to expand a pocket formed between conjunctival tissue and scleral tissue. The scissoring mechanism or the expandable mechanism is also configured to unfurl a treatment device within the pocket.
DURA ELEVATING AND CUTTING APPARATUS
Various embodiments of a dural elevating and cutting apparatus and methods of use are disclosed herein.
Scleral depressor
A scleral depressor includes an elongated handle defining a first axis. An extension member has one end attached to the proximal end of the handle and includes a blade at the remote end thereof. The extension member defines a second axis and extends from the handle at approximately 90 thereby defining a plane. A bulbous or cylindrically shaped blade located at the remote end of the extension member has its rounded surface extending out of the plane. By properly manipulating the handle, such as by rotating the same, the rounded surface of the blade is used to depress the sclera.
Methods and apparatus for delivering and positioning sheet-like materials in surgery
An implant delivery system for delivering a sheet-like implant is disclosed. The implant delivery system includes a distal guidewire port for receiving the proximal end of guidewire after the guidewire distal end has been affixed to a first point on bone or other tissue. The implant delivery system is tracked over the guidewire to a selected position defined by the guidewire attachment. The device includes an implant spreader assembly disposed proximate the distal end of a delivery shaft. The implant spreader assembly includes a first arm and a second arm. The arms are coupled to the delivery shaft such that the first arm and second arm are moveable between a closed position and an open position. When pivoting to the open position the distal end of each arm travels in a generally transverse direction to spread a sheet-like implant.
RIGID TONGUE RETRACTOR
A dental device that firmly mates and rotationally orients the proximal end of a suction (evacuation) straw of a high volume extraction unit to a rigid, disposable tongue retractor firmly enough that it cannot be dislodged therefrom. This allows the device to direct the forcible movement and retention of the tongue while suctioning out saliva, water and debris from the dental patient's mouth. The device has a unique four point capture collar with two upper bands and two lower bands separated by open voids. The half bands each half encircle the shaft of the suction straw with the proximal void providing an easy connection of the straw's locking orifice to the retention post on the retractor.
Bone material dispensing apparatus and methods
A bone material dispensing apparatus for preparing, mixing, and dispensing bone material into a foldable container is provided. In some embodiments, the dispensing apparatus comprises a tray and a foldable container. The tray includes a mixing surface, a dispensing surface and a means to measure the amount of material to be dispensed. A kit including a tray, a foldable container, and a spatula are also provided. A method of using the dispensing apparatus to deliver the bone material to a bone detect is also provided.
Soft conformal laparoscopic instrument
A soft robotic instrument that is capable of changing its form factor (e.g., expanding and contracting) during use to facilitate minimally invasive surgery. The instrument may be formed wholly or partly of an elastomeric, electrically insulating material for mitigating the risk of injuring tissue and for mitigating the risk of electrical arcing during electrosurgery.
