Vacuum-Assisted Vaginal Positioning Device
A medical device for tissue manipulation within a body cavity includes a shaft having a lumen extending therethrough from a proximal end to a distal end and a first channel extending within the lumen, an expandable end-effector extending from a proximal end to a distal end, and an expansion mechanism. The end-effector includes a first portion and a second portion and is movable from a first configuration in which the first and second portions are adjacent to one another to a second configuration in which the first and second portions are separated along an axis perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the shaft. The expansion mechanism is positioned between the first and second portions and expandable to move the end effector from the first configuration to the second configuration.
MEMBRANE REMOVAL DEVICE
The present disclosure relates generally to surgical instruments, and more specifically, to ophthalmic surgical instruments and methods of making the same. In particular, a surgical instrument is provided. The surgical instrument includes a cannula. A spatula is formed at an end of the cannula. The spatula extends from the cannula at a non-zero angle relative to an exterior surface of the cannula. The spatula at least partially defines an aperture at the end of the cannula. An optical fiber extends along an interior of the cannula. The optical fiber is configured to direct laser light toward the spatula.
Devices and methods for partly isolating a target biological structure
The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for partly isolating a target biological structure. The device may include a main body comprising a front face and a rear face, the main body having a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end may be arcuate in a first state and may be substantially planar in a second state. The device may further include one or more balloons disposed on the distal end of the main body. Each of the one or more balloons is deflated in the first state and each of the one or more balloons is inflated in the second state. The distal end of the main body is configured to deform to be substantially planar when each of the one or more balloons are inflated in the second state.
MULTI-FUNCTIONAL MEDICAL DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS OF USE
A medical device including an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The medical device may further include an end-effector disposed at the distal end of the elongate member. The end-effector may include a plurality of arms pivotally connected to one another, wherein each arm includes a tissue-contacting surface, a first portion of the tissue-contacting surface including a plurality of ridges configured to grasp tissue. Further, the tissue-contacting surface may include a channel oriented substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the medical device.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE ACCESS INTO A JOINT
Devices and methods are disclosed for providing access to a central compartment of a hip joint. The devices can access the central compartment by distracting all or a portion of the labrum. The labrum can be distracted by advancing a device underneath the bottom edge of the labrum, and using the device to further distract the labrum. Some devices can move underneath the labrum to provide a gap for other devices to access the central compartment.
Method for tissue resection
A tissue resection method of resecting a portion of a hollow organ includes a first step of specifying a position and a range of a resection target tissue from the inside of the hollow organ and showing the position and the range in a visually recognizable manner from the inside of a body cavity; a second step of bringing a bioabsorbable member introduced into the body cavity into contact with the resection target tissue and pressing the resection target tissue, thereby inverting the resection target tissue to the inside of the hollow organ; and a third step of resecting the inverted resection target tissue over all layers from the inside of the hollow organ and performing anastomosis of a hole formed in the hollow organ from the inside of the hollow organ.
Ultrasonic handpiece
In certain embodiments, a handpiece system includes an ultrasonic handpiece and a spatula. The ultrasonic handpiece includes a vibration source and a horn. The vibration source is configured to produce ultrasonic vibrations, and a horn is configured to transform the vibrations into ultrasonic motion. The spatula is coupled to the horn and configured to move according to the ultrasonic motion. The spatula may have any suitable shape and size.
Method for Treatment of Sleep Apnea by Ventral Only Ablation of the Tongue
Apparatus and methods for ventral only ablation of the tongue, for use in treating sleep apnea and related breathing disorders. An RF ablation probe or wand is inserted in ventral surface of a patient's tongue in a superior plane along a longitudinal (i.e., anterior to posterior) axis of the tongue, to a predetermined depth. The wand is withdrawn, RF energy is applied, creating a lesion predominantly in the interior of the tongue in an anterior to posterior plane, thereby resulting in less scarring but appreciable movement of the posterior tongue base away from the posterior pharyngeal wall. Also disclosed is a tongue retractor device used for measuring the depth of wand insertion, lifting the tongue to expose the ventral surface of the tongue for the procedure, and providing a stop surface to inhibit further wand insertion.
Articulable surgical instrument
An instrument includes, a lumen, a handpiece affixed to the proximal end of the lumen and including an actuator, a proximal articulable segment, the proximal end of the proximal articulable segment pivotably attached to the distal end of the lumen via a proximal hinge pin extending in a direction generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the lumen, an actuation cable extending from the actuator through the lumen and into the proximal articulable segment, and a cable router comprising a proximal pulley assembly rotatable about the proximal hinge pin, wherein the cable is wrapped about the proximal pulley assembly.
SURGICAL TOOL CONTROL DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
According to an aspect, a medical device includes a base member and an adjustment member. The adjustment member is movably coupled to the base member. The adjustment member has a body portion and a coupling portion. The coupling portion is configured to couple a medical tool to the adjustment member.
