SKULL PORTAL DEVICE FOR CRANIAL ACCESS
Apparatus for providing repeated cranial access comprises a hollow shaft sized to fit within a hole extending through a skull bone, the hollow shaft having a length of at least a thickness of the skull bone, a lip extending laterally form a first end of the hollow shaft for abutting the skull bone around the hole, and, a plug sized to fit into the hollow shaft, the plug extending at least the length of the hollow shaft and configured to be removably secured within the hollow shaft.
Trajectory guide with double X-Y sliding tables
A trajectory guiding apparatus and one or more methods associated therewith for facilitating precision-guided alignment and implantation of a DBS therapy device in a patient. A base plate and base frame combination provides a platform for a dual-stage slider (DSS) assembly comprising a bottom stage slider (BSS) table and a top stage slider (TSS) table that each have suitably sized apertures or orifices therethrough for allowing the passage of and securely holding an instrumentation column (IC) assembly whose translational movement (i.e., sideways or forward and/or backward directions along a translational plane) and pivotal/rotational movement (i.e., around a perpendicular axis orthogonal to the translational plane and extending through a pivot or fulcrum) are independently controlled by respective slide actuators in order to properly align the IC assembly to a desired trajectory.
Expandable and collapsible brain cannula
A method of accessing a target site within the brain of a patient, through the skull of the patient, with an expandable cannula.
Systems, methods and devices for a skull/brain interface
Methods, devices, and systems induce neuromodulation by focusing a source of stimulation through a skull/brain interface in the form of an aperture formed in the skull, a naturally occurring fenestration in the skull, or a transcranial channel. Methods, devices, and systems identify where to locate skull/brain interfaces, accessories that can be used with the interfaces, and features for controlling stimulation delivered through the interfaces. Multiple indications for the skull/brain interfaces include diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders and conditions such as epilepsy, movement disorders, depression, Alzheimer's disease, autism, coma, and pain.
DRILL GUIDE FIXTURES, CRANIAL INSERTION FIXTURES, AND RELATED METHODS AND ROBOTIC SYSTEMS
A drill guide fixture may be configured to prepare a skull for attachment of a cranial insertion fixture. The drill guide fixture may include a central drill guide and a bone anchor guide at a base of the drill guide fixture. The central drill guide may define a central drill guide hole therethrough, wherein the central drill guide hole has a first opening at a base of the drill guide fixture and a second opening spaced apart from the base of the drill guide fixture. The bone anchor drill guide may define a bone anchor drill guide hole therethrough, and the bone anchor drill guide hole may be offset from the central drill guide hole in a direction that is perpendicular with respect to a direction of the central drill guide hole. Related cranial insertion fixtures, robotic systems, and methods are also discussed.
CRANIAL IMPLANT WITH DURAL WINDOW
A cranial implant for access to a cerebral cortex includes a window member shaped and dimensioned for positioning within a dural defect to provide access through the dura such that access to the cerebral cortex is provided in a location under study. An implant body is provided having a geometry that substantially conforms to a resected portion of a patient's anatomy to which the implant body is to be secured.
TRAJECTORY GUIDE WITH DUAL GIMBAL DRIVE ARRANGEMENT
A trajectory guiding apparatus and one or more methods associated therewith for facilitating precision-guided alignment and implantation of a DBS therapy device in a patient. A pivotally rotatable stage is pivotally coupled to a base support and a vertical support operative to support a slider assembly arranged to accommodate an instrumentation column (IC) containing the therapy device. A first gimbal drive is disposed between the pivotally rotatable stage and the base support, wherein the first gimbal drive is actuatable to cause a first pivotal motion of the slider assembly including the IC, the first pivotal motion defined along a first arcuate path pivoted around a first pivotal axis. A second gimbal drive is disposed between the pivotally rotatable stage and the vertical support, wherein the second gimbal drive is actuatable to cause a second pivotal motion of the slider assembly including the IC, the second pivotal motion defined along a second arcuate path pivoted around a second pivotal axis perpendicular to the first pivotal axis.
CRANIAL ANCHORING AND POSITIONING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A cranial anchor system configured to attach to an opening in a cranium includes an anchor member. The anchor member has a middle anchor portion and a lower anchor portion coupled to and disposed in a downward direction relative to the middle anchor portion. The lower anchor portion has a plurality of contact members, each of which have a leg that extends at least partially in the downward direction, a tab connected to the leg, and a rib disposed between the leg and the tab. The system further includes an outer sheath and an inner sheath disposed within the outer sheath and slidable relative to the outer sheath.
Surgical access assembly and method of using same
A surgical access assembly is disclosed. The surgical access assembly comprises an outer sheath and an obturator. The outer sheath is defined by an open distal end and an open proximal end and includes a hollow body portion therebetween. The obturator is defined by a distal end and a proximal end and the distal end further comprises a tapered distal tip member that terminates in a closed radiused distal tip. The obturator is configured to be received within the outer sheath such that the tapered distal tip member protrudes from the open distal end of the outer sheath when the obturator is in an introducing configuration.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL CRANIOCEREBRAL POSITIONING OPERATION TOOL AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A three-dimensional craniocerebral positioning operation tool and a use method thereof. The three-dimensional brain positioning operation tool and a use method thereof include a measurement method based on CT and MR images, a marking ruler and an bow-shaped guide device. The measurement method is used to measure the three-dimensional coordinate position of the focus, the marking ruler is used to draw the target point projection mark on the patient's body, and the bow-shaped guide device uses the projection mark to complete the lesion positioning. A spatial three-dimensional coordinate system can be established for CT or MR images of the patient's lesion through the corresponding software. The lesion positioning call be realized by using the the position of the lesion in the spatial three-dimensional coordinate system.
