Pigment powders

Disclosed are pigment powders containing only coated BiOCl flakes, which flakes area) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing yellow iron oxide Fe.sub.2O.sub.3*xH.sub.2O, optionally a colorant, optionally an adjuvant, and optionally SiO.sub.2, b) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing SiO.sub.2, optionally a colorant, and optionally an adjuvant, c) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing a colorant, SiO.sub.2, optionally yellow iron oxide Fe.sub.2O.sub.3*xH.sub.2O, and optionally an adjuvant, or d) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 and optionally SiO.sub.2, to a process for the preparation of the pigment powders, and to the use thereof especially in cosmetic formulations.

EFFECT PIGMENTS

Effect pigments based on Al.sub.2O.sub.3 flakes with high weather resistance and less photoactivity and to their use thereof in paints, industrial coatings, automotive coatings, printing inks, cosmetic formulations. The effect pigments have a ratio of the amount by weight of Al.sub.2O.sub.3 of the Al.sub.2O.sub.3 flake and the amount by weight of the metal oxide(s) of the coating layer(s) in the range of from 27:73 to 83:17 based on the total weight of the effect pigment.

Colored glossy pigment using vegetable type natural dye and method for preparing same

The present invention relates to a method of preparing a colored gloss pigment using a natural dye. According to the present disclosure, the method may include preparing a dye from a dye material of natural dyes; titrating the dye with an inorganic salt solution and subsequently adjusting a pH neutral to prepare a natural pigment containing the dye; dispersing a substrate coated with a metal oxide into a DI water to form a substrate suspension; and introducing a pH adjusting agent and the natural pigment into the substrate suspension to coat a surface of the substrate with the natural pigment.

High chroma flakes

An article including a reflector having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface; a first selective light modulator layer external to the first surface of the reflector; a second selective light modulator layer external to the second surface of the reflector; a first absorber layer external to the first selective light modulator layer; and a second absorber layer external to the second selective light modulator layer; wherein each of the first and second selective light modulator layers include a host material is disclosed herein. Methods of making the article are also disclosed.

Ink additive combinations for improving printhead lifetime

An inkjet ink for improving printhead lifetimes includes: an aqueous-based ink vehicle; a colorant; an anti-kogation additive; and an anti-corrosion additive having at least one acetylenic group, the acetylenic group being absent any tertiary or quaternary -carbon atoms.

COLORED PLATELETS

A colored platelet including a substrate, an adhesion layer, a color pigment layer, and a secure layer and a method of producing the colored platelet are described. The disclosed colored platelet can provide a superior bright color effect in a coating composition. The color effect can depend on the material used for the substrate and/or the color pigment layer.

Chromatic glitter

High chroma glitter pigments combine large particle interference pigments and absorption colorants to bring about a unique look. Unlike traditional glitter pigments, the high chroma glitter pigment does not exploit metallic coatings to achieve the sparkle effect. These high chroma glitter pigments produce optical effects and coloration without the need for incorporating additional pigments which, in turn, is a benefit from both a formulation and cost standpoint. In addition to a sparkle effect, the present invention provides high chroma over both dark and light backgrounds, which has been thus far unrealized in prior art. Materials used in the present invention are ethically sourced, environmentally friendly, free of plastic, free of heavy metals, and regulated for cosmetic applications.
