(METH)ACRYLIC-MODIFIED SILICONE MACROMONOMER

The present invention aims to provide a (meth)acrylic-modified silicone macromonomer, which may be used as a raw material for a (meth)acrylic copolymer capable of forming a coating having excellent antifouling properties and surface smoothness.

A (meth)acrylic-modified silicone macromonomer of formula (b1) is provided, which has 1 to 80 branches attached to a linear polysiloxane backbone and the branch has a (poly)oxyalkylene structure of the formula —(C.sub.aH.sub.2aO).sub.b— and a (meth)acryloyl group at a terminal. The (meth)acrylic-modified silicone macromonomer is a raw material for a polymer used in an antifouling paint.

POLYSILOXANE RESIN COMPOSITION

A coating composition is disclosed. The coating composition generally provides a coating which is easy to clean, e.g. from an oil stain. The coating composition contains, based on the solid contents of the coating composition; (A) 72 to 90 weight % of a methylpolysiloxane resin; (B) 3 to 8 weight % of a polydimethylsiloxane; (C) 7 to 18 weight % of a silane adhesion promoter with a specific chemical structure; and (D) 0.1 to 0.3 weight % of a catalyst. The coating composition optionally contains (E) a reaction product of a composition containing diisocyanate and polydimethylsiloxane. The coating composition optionally contains (F) a fluorinated silane, in addition or alternate to component (E).

A method for producing an anti-fouling coating film includes: a step (1) of applying a fine uneven layer forming agent containing at least one type of polysilazane as at least one type of silica raw material on at least one surface of a base substrate, the aforementioned at least one surface comprising at least one type of resin, to form a fine uneven layer containing silica and polysilazane; a step (2) of applying a modification layer forming agent containing a reactive organic compound and polysiloxane or perfluoropolyether on a surface of the fine uneven layer obtained in the step (1), to form a modification layer containing polysiloxane or perfluoropolyether, and a step (3) of applying lubricating oil containing silicone oil or fluorinated oil on a surface of the modification layer obtained in the step (2), to form a lubricating oil layer.

A composition which provides a coating film having excellent foul releasing property is disclosed. The composition comprises, based on the solid contents of the composition: (A) 20 to 80 weight % of a resin which has a polydialkylsiloxane unit and an epoxy resin unit within its structure; (B) 0.1 to 5 weight % of an amino silane; (C) 0.5 to 5 weight % of a hydrophilic additive; and (D) 0.1 to 5 weight % of a catalyst. A coating, e.g. a coating film, formed from the composition generally has an amphiphilic surface. Thus, the composition is suitable for coatings which prevent both hydrophobic and hydrophilic fouling.

Room-temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition and base material

The present invention pertains to a room-temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition containing (A) an organopolysiloxane having the hydrolyzable silyl-group-containing monovalent organic group represented by formula (1) ##STR00001## (R.sup.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1-10 alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted C6-10 aryl group, R.sup.2 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1-10 alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted C6-10 aryl group, and R.sup.3 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1-20 alkyl group or a hydrogen atom; M is an integer from 1 to 3, and n is an integer of 2 or more; and the broken line represents atomic bonding), (B) a hydrolyzable organosilane compound and/or a partially hydrolyzed condensate thereof, (C) a curing catalyst, and (F) a bleed oil. According to this configuration, an organotin-compound-free and MEKO-free product is achieved, exceptional fast-curing properties are achieved, and a cured coating film has exceptional rubber strength and exceptional antifouling performance over a long period of time.

COATING COMPOSITION AND COATING FILM

Provided is a coating composition containing a silicon atom-containing resin. The resin includes a constituent unit (A) derived from a monomer (a) having at least one kind of silicon atom-containing group selected from the group consisting of groups represented by formulae (I), (II), (III), and (IV), a constituent unit (B) derived from a monomer (b) which is a (meth)acrylic acid ester represented by a formula (b), and a constituent unit (C) derived from a monomer (c) other than the monomers (a) and (b). The monomer (a) has a molecular weight of greater than 2500. A content of the constituent unit (A) is greater than 20% by mass in all constituent units. The monomer (c) has a homopolymer solubility parameter SP of less than or equal to 9.5 and has no cyclic structure. A content of the unit (C) is greater than 2% by mass in all constituent units.

HYDROPHOBIC-ICEPHOBIC ORGANOSILANE COMPOSITIONS, COATINGS, AND METHODS

A hydrophobic-icephobic composition includes a monomer binder, an organic solvent, and a hydrolyzed organosilane. The hydrolyzed organosilane is represented by a formula of R.sup.1Si(OH).sub.3. The R.sup.1 group comprises an alkyl or a haloalkyl having from 3 to 40 carbons. A hydrophobic-icephobic coating over a substrate includes a polymer base and a polyorganosiloxane. The polyorganosiloxane includes (R.sup.1SiO.sub.2) units. The R.sup.1 group includes an alkyl or a haloalkyl having from 3 to 40 carbons. One or more of the (R.sup.1SiO.sub.2) units of the polyorganosiloxane are may be chemically bonded to the substrate.
